I haven’t had an official office visit yet, just a meet and greet. My previous doctor passed away rather suddenly and now I was faced with a new doctor who did not know my medical history or challenges. I was skeptical when I went for the meet and greet but Dr. Murphy quickly won me over. He reviewed my meds and made substantial changes such has eliminating 4meds and replacing with 2 meds. He says he will get me improved blood sugar readings, improved A1C and better kidney function with these changes. Most importantly we discussed my chronic pain associated with CPPD arthropathy. My Doctor, William S. French, passed, which was unexpected. He survived 4 months after his diagnosis. I had been going to him for almost 20 or so years. Her gave you his undivided attention and all the time you needed. I thought he was great. I met my new Doctor, Richard "Dylan" Murphy, January 11, 2024. He was from Pikeville, KY but was practicing in Florida. He lost his home in the hurricane. He and his family returned to Kentucky to become the doctor to replace Dr. French. He has already won the staff over. They are very happy he is here. On my first meeting with him, he knew my history from the files, gave me all the time I needed and said he would put me on a better path for my diabetes. I thought he was more aggressive in his explanations, than Dr. French. I do not think that is a problem. I think he is open to any need you have and will see you as needed. I think that is his style to let you know he will get you in your best physical, mental and medical condition. I think he will be a great doctor to me and all his patients.

My first meeting with with Dr. French as an MDVIP doctor was refreshing and amazing. I don't recall what I was treated for but was probably an upper respiratory issue. His treatment was effective, no surprise there. When we went to his office we had an in depth conversation about my health, my concerns then and any future concerns I might have, did I feel stressed about anything, my sleep issues, my work, my hobbies, and many other issues that could have a bearing on my health . This initial visit lasted over an hour. My subsequent visits were also in depth his ability to read between the lines to draw me out about any concerns that might impact my health were relaxed and insightful. Dr. Murphy has taken over Dr. French's practice I have only had a very informal meeting with Dr. Murphy. I was favorably impressed. I am not looking forward to being sick, but am looking forward to a more in depth visit.

Growing up in a small town nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky, I developed a strong sense of community. When I became a physician, I wanted to create a personalized, tightknit community with my patients. I also wanted to provide you with personalized healthcare that includes not only physical, but emotional care. People from my small hometown were my family, and I will strive to create that same family with you.

As an MDVIP-affiliated, board-certified internal medicine physician, I will be able to provide personalized care. This helps eliminate the red tape and allows a more direct interaction with patients along with the ability to spend more time with each patient to develop a personalized healthcare plan, not only to treat you when you’re sick but help prevent diseases as well. My MDVIP-affiliated practice offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices. As a private internal medicine physician serving Sanibel, Captiva and the Fort Myers area, I hope to help you live a healthy, happy life. My personal areas of interest include preventive medicine, lifestyle medicine, cardiovascular disease and infectious disease, though I find joy in all parts of internal medicine.
