Boca Raton, FL, -- (June 24, 2008) -– MDVIP, Inc., the national leader
in preventive and personalized medicine, announced that Hospital for Special
Surgery (HSS) in New York has joined the MDVIP Medical Centers of Excellence
program (MCE). HSS, nationally ranked No. 1 in orthopedics and No. 3 in
rheumatology by U.S. News & World Report (2007), is the most recent
addition to MDVIP’s MCE program.
The MCE offers MDVIP patients significantly enhanced coordination of specialty
care, second opinions and testing via state-of-the-art technology by leading
medical institutions with just a single referral from their MDVIP-affiliated
physician. This new relationship with HSS will be available for all MDVIP
patients in the network beginning immediately.
"Through this partnership with Hospital for Special Surgery and other top
medical institutions in the country, MDVIP continues to provide exceptional
care for patients through all stages of their health," stated Edward Goldman,
M.D., CEO and Co-Founder of MDVIP, Inc. "HSS is the nation’s leading hospital
for musculoskeletal medicine and we are proud to be able to provide our members
with their high quality care for the best possible outcomes."
"Demand is growing for highly skilled treatment of orthopedic and
rheumatological conditions," said Louis A. Shapiro, President and CEO, Hospital
for Special Surgery. "This program is designed for patients who take a
proactive role in their health care and we support MDVIP’s commitment to
collaborating with us to offer their members exceptional care in our areas of
expertise."
Once the MDVIP-affiliated physician has determined that specialty care, a
second medical opinion or advanced diagnostic testing is desired, the doctor
will choose the MCE facility best suited to the patient’s needs and an
appointment at the facility is arranged. At each facility the MCE liaison, upon
completion of the visit, provides results and medical records to the
MDVIP-affiliated physician in order to coordinate results and follow up care.
The MCE program comprises a network of nationally acclaimed medical
institutions including Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Tex., Beth Israel
Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and Florida, The
Hanley Center in Florida, Joslin Diabetic Clinic in Boston, Mayo Clinic in
Jacksonville, Fla., Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, Miller
School of Medicine University of Miami and UCLA Health System in Los Angeles.
