What is the MCE Program?
The Medical Centers of Excellence (MCE) program is a newly added benefit for members of MDVIP affiliated practices. As
part of our ongoing commitment to exceptional medical care, MDVIP has established a network of nationally
acclaimed medical institutions located throughout the country. Through these associations, we are able to offer
MDVIP patients world renowned specialty care and state-of-the-art technology. At your or your doctor’s request,
we can assist you in obtaining a timely appointment and coordinate all aspects of your visit, whether seeking a
second medical opinion or treatment at one of these premier centers. These relationships include Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, affiliated with Joslin Clinic at Harvard in Boston, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland and Weston, FL, Hanley Center in West Palm Beach, Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York, Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami in FL and UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
MDVIP dedicated staff at each institution will assist you with travel arrangements, insure the transfer and communication of your medical records, meet you
and escort you to your appointments.

Is there an additional cost for the MCE program?
No, this service is part of the benefits you receive with your membership in your MDVIP
affiliated practice. MDVIP staff is available to assist in all aspects of your appointment and
will make all necessary arrangements. The cost for the actual medical treatment will be your responsibility
and can be billed to your insurance, depending on your healthcare coverage. Your doctor and the medical centers
can assist you in determining your healthcare benefits.

What if my insurance won’t cover my visit or treatment at one of these facilities?
Our service to you remains the same. We will facilitate your appointment, help guide you throughout the facility,
oversee timely transfer of your medical records and assist you with necessary travel arrangements. Cost for the actual
medical service will be your responsibility.

Is this a Medicare covered benefit?
This service is part of the benefit you receive with your membership in your MDVIP
affiliated practice. The medical treatment at the facility may be covered based on Medicare
guidelines and will be subject to applicable Medicare deductibles and/or co-payments.

How do I know if I should seek treatment at an MCE facility?
You and your doctor will decide together based on your health care needs.

What if I do not live near the requested facility?
Our MDVIP staff is familiar with the accommodations available at each medical center and
can assist you with travel and lodging arrangements. In many cases we can extend discount
pricing which has been negotiated for patients visiting the center.

Is travel and lodging included in the program?
No. Our staff will assist you in making travel arrangements, but the cost for the actual
travel and lodging is your responsibility.

How do I utilize this benefit?
Once you have determined that a second medical opinion or treatment at an MCE
facility is desired, your doctor will notify MDVIP. MDVIP will communicate
with your doctor and the medical center to insure an appointment with the
appropriate specialist and will arrange for the transfer of your medical
records. We will contact you to explain the process and address any special
needs you may have.
The medical facility will contact you directly to arrange a time for your
appointment and discuss your escort and the personalized services you will
receive upon arrival and throughout your stay. The goal is to make your time
there productive, comfortable and stress-free.
Once an appointment time is set, MDVIP staff will contact you to offer
assistance with any travel and/or lodging needs.
Upon completion of your visit to the facility your MDVIP affiliated physician
will confer directly with the medical center specialists, electronically
and/or by phone. MDVIP will insure the timely receipt of your results and
medical records by your MDVIP affiliated physician for seamless coordination
of care.
