My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

My natural passion for life has always driven me to provide detailed, comprehensive, personal health care to each of my patients. Being able to provide personalized medical care is something I thoroughly enjoy. Affiliating with MDVIP has helped me to preserve and robustly improve the opportunities to plan proactively with you. I promise to use my education, experience, compassion and understanding to build a close and constructive relationship with you. Partnering together, I believe that we can maintain your current health while also helping prevent new problems. My goal is to help you meet your personal goals for your life and your health at every stage of life.

Located in Lexington, Kentucky and affiliated with Baptist Hospital, I’m honored to serve patients who come to see me from across the Commonwealth, as well as from many other states. My staff and I are accustomed to working with “snowbirds”, who winter in warmer climates. My personalized, internal medicine practice allows me to get to know each of my patients and to care for them well beyond their immediate needs. Because of this, when necessary, I am able to coordinate patient care with preferred physician colleagues, whether it be across town or across the country. My MDVIP-affiliated practice, often compared to a concierge medicine practice, also offers conveniences like same- or next-day appointments. In my internal medicine practice, I address the full depth and breadth of adult health, wellness and illness, with particular interest in prevention and wellness as well as cardiovascular health, hypertension, cholesterol disorders, nutrition, orthopedic and musculoskeletal problems.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Hood

from William in KY April 2, 2024 for Gregory A. Hood MD MACP FRCP

Frankly, I was surprised and caught off guard; the symptoms sort of sneaked up on me. After a few days of sniffing, nose blowing and such, I went to a local walk-in clinic in our city of Lexington and asked to be tested for Covid. Twenty minutes later, while shopping in our local Walmart, I was notified via cell phone: Yes, Covid had sure enough caught me. Quite unwillingly, I had joined the "… See more

My doctor, Dr. Gregory Hood, makes me feel safe and comfortable. I had another doctor in the practice that decided to move on. Dr. Hood was inherited. He took care of both me and my husband. When the practice decided to go with MDVIP, we needed to make a decision as to whether to stay with him (and pay the additional fee) or to move on. We both decided that we really liked Dr. Hood and felt… See more

I have been a patient of Dr. Gregory Hood’s for 24 years. My care has been exemplary and attentive. I would not consider another physician even though I travel almost an hour to get to his office. He always listens and includes me in my treatment plan I could not get a better physician.

from Sue in KY March 12, 2024 for Gregory A. Hood MD MACP FRCP

My husband recognized my symptoms and immediately called 911. While waiting for the ambulance to arrive, he texted Dr Hood on his cell phone. Dr Hood called the emergency room and had them waiting to treat me immediately when I arrived. Later that night, after I had been treated and was in ICU, Dr Hood visited me. He was so encouraging to me and told me how important it was to think… See more

from Judy in KY March 11, 2024 for Gregory A. Hood MD MACP FRCP

Dr. Gregory Hood is my PCP and was many years before he became associated with MDVIP. I’ve always know he is the best of the best. A few months ago he diagnosed a problem I had suffered with for a long time. I had been to a specialist with no clear answers. One day in Dr.Hoods office he asked me to send him a picture of the label on some tea I was drinking every day. I did and he called me and… See more

There are several stories I could share about Dr. Hood's exemplary service. Two of which stand out the most. On one occasion an older client of mine was in town for a business event. He began to feel very ill but refused my offer to take him to the ER. I reached out to Dr. Hood for advice. He spoke to my client and gave him advice of why he needed attention. The customer listened and… See more

What a relief when I saw it. A badge saying, “Dr. Gregory Hood, MDVIP.” I thought to myself, “He is here.”

I don’t consider myself to be an anxious person, but it is anxiety producing to experience a major medical event and be there alone. That was not the case for me on August 23, 2023. That day was my daughter’s birthday; this year it was a milestone birthday and we had big plans… See more

My doctor is concerned, confident and caring. He is very approachable and I find it easy to talk to him about anything that concerns me or my husband’s health. He is A#1 to us.

from Jerrel in KY February 13, 2024 for Gregory A. Hood MD MACP FRCP

I was out of town on a camping trip and at breakfast accidentally swallowed a large golf of coffee, and some of it went down my windpipe. That afternoon I started feeling bad and after the third day I felt so bad that I decided to leave a week early. When I got home, which was late in the evening around 8:30 pm, I decided to text my doctor and notify him what had happened and that I would… See more
