Testimonials from patients of Dr. Barnes

from Rich in VA March 12, 2024 for John G. Barnes, MD

It was early October, 2001, soon after that fateful day 9.11. I was due to fly to Brussels in the morning, and felt some discomfort as I prepared for bed.. the abdominal pain increased, and I called my doctor at home near 9pm... He explained the symptoms may be flu, but to keep him aware of it. By 11:30, the pain was intense.. He said to meet him in the hospital emergency room...when I… See more

Dr Barnes sent me immediately to the hospital for emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder when I appeared at his office one Monday morning several years ago. I had been to a stand alone doctor’s office over the weekend, given a prescription and was told I might want to see my doctor the following week. It turns out the gallbladder was gangrenous and Dr BARNES knew exactly what needed to be… See more

Dr Barnes is always patient with me the patient! As my A1C crept up due to my poor management of my lifestyle he did not make me feel bad about my poor choices. Also, he did not make me feel like I had to take medicine but encouraged me when I wanted to change my lifestyle and see what would happen. He gave me information I could use to help me manage and change. My A1C is now within normal… See more

Dr, Barnes is the most caring, understanding doctor with a great bedside manner. My appointments with him are never rushed so he will take all the time to listen to what I have to say. I leave my appointments knowing I have received the best advice from him.

I'm not exactly sure when I began my journey with Dr. Barnes. Immediately he managed to develop a concept I was more than just another patient. His expertise, his willingness to listen to me, and diagnose issues we needed to address. I felt there's no way I'm going to disappoint him. I have total confidence in him , he's helped me over the phone, I cherish the comfort… See more

I am so fortunate to be a patient of Dr. Barnes because he is a rare find in a physician and is a professional of the highest degree. What sets this doctor apart from the rest is his exceptional interpersonal skills. He is a great listener and makes you feel like you are an important person of value, and not just another patient coming through the doors. I truly believe that he has made a… See more

from Donald in VA February 28, 2024 for John G. Barnes, MD

I had been going to Dr Barnes for over 20 years in 2012 when he diagnosed the pain in my back/hips as being caused by cartilage degeneration. He referred me to an orthopedist who replaced my left hip with a technique that was relatively new at the time. No more hip pain…hooray!!
