What is MDVIP?
Some people, particularly in the press, would say MDVIP is a “concierge medicine” model. Actually, MDVIP goes far beyond the “fee for access” models that are rightfully seen as “concierge” and is actually setting the new gold standard for healthcare. MDVIP physicians deliver personalized medical care focused on prevention and wellness, backed by early detection and state - of - the - art treatment and condition management for their patients who consider health and healthcare to be important. These patients pay for an annual physical and personalized wellness plan that helps them get and stay healthy.

In MDVIP affiliated practices, doctors are working closely with 600 patients who value their doctor’s advice. Our mantra, “Exceptional Doctors, Exceptional Care, Exceptional Results”, means that if you qualify we will help you reach your full potential, while you help your patients achieve the same.

We start by getting you off the treadmill and freeing you from the administrative burdens that have become part of medical practice. In the MDVIP model, your practice will be transformed to one where patients pay an annual membership fee. This allows you to reduce the number of patients you care for, and increase the amount of time you spend with each one. You will be able to focus on prevention and early detection, resulting in dramatic improvements in the health and wellness of your patients. You will thrive in an environment where your knowledge and expertise really make a difference.

MDVIP gets you off the treadmill and free you from administrative hassles

We provide you with the tools to practice preventive medicine: Health Risk Assessments (HRAs), electronic medical records (EMRs), personal health records, patient wellness portals, HIPAA secure messaging and much, much more. Your patients know that their health is their responsibility, but they need someone to guide and coach them. The person they most trust to do this is you, their doctor.

While you prosper in your practice, you will also belong to the MDVIP network, a fraternity of some of the nation’s finest physicians. Your colleagues are united in the mission of providing exceptional medical care to patients who truly value it. They are also living proof that there is a better way.

Your MDVIP network extends beyond the borders of affiliated physicians; you will also be associated with the premier academic centers in the country, like Cleveland Clinic, Memorial Sloan - Kettering, Beth Israel Deaconess and many more.

What does MDVIP expect from me?
No less than you expect from yourself – to practice the very best medicine by taking exceptional care of your patients and using state - of - the - art technology; be a great doctor, rediscovering your passion and compassion; and to love practicing medicine again.

To be part of the MDVIP physician network, inspiring physicians and patients alike, to help demonstrate that exceptional is possible, and that prevention, early detection and protection from disease progression are real and do work.
back

How is an MDVIP practice different?
MDVIP exists to enable physicians – to free you to practice medicine the way you dreamed you would when you first chose this as your life’s work. We don’t want you to give acceptable care to thousands, but rather to give exceptional care to 600 patients who value their health and value you as their doctor and partner in healthcare.

MDVIP practices are different because they are

• Small
• Personal
• Focused on prevention

Perhaps most dramatically, MDVIP physicians and their staff love what they do. They feel alive, inspired, motivated and energized. They look forward to going to the office every day. And then they look forward to going home to be part of their families again, and to have time for themselves. They have balance and a sense of fulfillment. MDVIP doctors are not only outstanding physicians, they are also really happy people.
back

Could I be an MDVIP physician?

How does this work after hours?
A 2006 survey of MDVIP affiliated physicians regarding call and coverage after hours:
2006 survey of regarding after - hours medical calls

"I would stress the calls are appropriate, patients usually apologize, and generally do not abuse the system."
      - Stephen Glasser, MD, Baltimore, MD            Profile

"I have so few calls when no one is in the hospital that I am often tempted to call my service to be sure they know I am on call."
      - Ralph Seligmann, MD, Scottsdale, AZ            Profile

"The calls are usually easy to handle because the patients are well known. In our old practice when we took calls it was for 7 doctors and we covered for 15,000 patients. The calls were about 4 - 5 a night on weekdays and about 20 on the weekend."
      - Russell Neibaur, MD, Henderson, NV            Profile

"Prior to joining MDVIP it was not unusual to have 12 calls per night and 30 - 40 on the weekend. Now I often don't even have one call a night."
      - Thomas Pitoscia, MD, Millburn, NJ            Profile

"They are always my patients, and usually apologetic no matter what hour."
      - Brent A. Berger, MD, Potomac, MD            Profile

"Very few calls after hours, only if I have someone in the hospital. Otherwise I average less than one call per night."
      - A. Ruben Caride, MD, Miami, FL            Profile

"During the week I rarely am called by my patients after hours."
      - Joel Temme, MD, Alexandria, VA            Profile

Who is behind MDVIP?
The founders and current management have track records of entrepreneurial successes, medical experience and credibility. Read more on our executive team.

Tommy G Thompson, former Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson, former Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services and Governor of Wisconsin shares our passion for preventive healthcare, and serves as Chairman of the MDVIP Committee on Cost Reduction through Preventive Care.

MDVIP has relationships with many of the premier academic institutions in the country, such as the Joslin Diabetes Center and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. MDVIP physicians can utilize these centers for academic second opinions, medical education and specialized treatment programs structured for MDVIP patients.

Perhaps most significant is the MDVP physician network itself, a national association of physicians who proudly represent the tens of thousands of patients who benefit from their care.
back

How is MDVIP different from concierge practices?
MDVIP is far beyond concierge care. We are not about fee for access. MDVIP doctors practice preventive care. MDVIP doctors practice personalized care. MDVIP doctors practice better care – and are rewarded professionally, personally and financially.

We are a national network enabling patients, through our Reciprocity Program, to to be seen by a local MDVIP physician when they travel.

Most importantly, we have demonstrated through our utilization data that the MDVIP model does make a difference in the health and well - being of our patients.

MDVIP provides the legal, regulatory, technological and back office support for the life of your practice.
back

What happens with my staff?
It’s your practice, it’s your staff, but we want to make sure your staff are well trained to deliver the highest level of personalized attention and service. We place a full - time employee – a Patient Advocate at our expense – in your practice throughout the transition period. This person trains and educates your staff, answers questions and guides the transition, eliminating difficulties. You own, manage and control your practice. Our goal is to set you free, not make demands on you.
back

How is this better medicine?
Typical practices are so large that it’s nearly impossible to have time to help patients stay well; you are too busy dealing with patients who are already presenting with symptoms. In MDVIP practices, the patient base is no more than 600, and each of them gets an annual physical that helps identify risks and detects problems early.

What kind of patients will join my MDVIP practice?
They will be patients who value their relationship with you. These patients respect your time and expertise and are motivated to work together to achieve a common goal – realizing optimal health. They will be more compliant and will rely on your guidance, whether it involves lifestyle or treatment choices. This will take the doctor-patient relationship to a new level, with mutual benefits. Your patients will have a greater interest in their health than the average person does; they will be a joy to work with because of their tremendous respect for the care you give them. MDVIP patients are also more compliant because they recognize the active role they must play if they are to achieve their optimal health.
back

What happens to patients who don’t join?
This is the first question every physician asks, and one that defines the integrity of MDVIP and of our physicians. Continuity of care for patients who do not choose to join a new MDVIP practice is not only our priority, it’s our responsibility. We will not enter into a relationship with any physician unless a continuity of care plan is established with other quality local physicians, either in the group practice or the community. We work with each patient to make sure they are taken care of and their transition is seamless.
back

How does this work with commercial insurance and Medicare?
Seamlessly for you and your patients. Everything remains intact as MDVIP is compatible with Medicare and most commercial insurance plans.
