My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

My mission as your internist and personal physician is to partner with you to create a personalized health plan designed to meet your specific medical needs and to maximize your wellness. My MDVIP-affiliated practice will allow us more time to better focus on your specific needs and goals, such as improved nutrition and weight management, exercise and fitness, and we may even be able to reduce the number of medications as I will have more time to work one-on-one with you. My training as a board-certified internist and prior career as a registered pharmacist will be utilized to care for your chronic medical problems efficiently and in a cost effective manner. With over 25 years of practicing in the community, I have developed close relationships across the Christiana Care Health System with many specialists who have consistently provided excellent care for my patients when needed. I will continue to partner with them to maximize your health.

My personalized primary care practice will be similar to a concierge medicine practice in many ways including on time and unhurried appointments, ability to reach me via cell phone 24/7 and house calls on a case-by-case basis. As always, I will follow and admit my patients at Christiana Hospital. My practice is located in the Glasgow Medical Center in Newark, Delaware behind the People’s Plaza. My patients come from all over Cecil and New Castle Counties including the following towns: Fox Run, Glasgow, Newark, Wilmington, Bear, Middletown, New Castle, Elkton, and parts of northeast Maryland.

Little did I know that Dr. Blacklock studied at Cooper Hospital in Camden NJ, the hospital I was born in, when I chose him. I was having trouble with my blood pressure when I went over to Glasgow Medical Center, looked at the the list of doctors, closed my eyes and pointed at the board, and put my finger on his name!
It said Black! I knew right away I was in good hands ! Love you… See more

Dr. Blacklock has a genuine concern over the health of his patients. During a recent illness, he called me at home to check on my condition and visited me in the hospital, even though he does not have priveleges. He called ahead to make sure they were on top of my case before I arrived at the hospital. I have complete confidence in him.

I dont have any big exciting stories to tell you. Sometimes the little stories are are the some of the big story. General health is a lot of little stories. How you get your health check up,how your treated when you get sick an how you have some on your team to keep you healthy,

Gosh...we have been through so much together, both good and bad times! I like Dr. B because not only is he a great diagnostician, he takes the time to try and see and treat his patients holistically, which I, for one, really appreciate.

I like to joke with him that as a nurse, he can be a pain in the butt, but as a patient, there's nobody else I want to coordinate my care.
