My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I relocated with my wife to the heart of the Rocky Mountains 20 years ago from the East Coast. I did this mainly for the beauty of the mountains and the unparalleled outdoor activities. My regular exercise routine includes biking, hiking and cross-country skiing and has been instrumental in my wellness. My goal is to share that passion for wellness with you to help you achieve your health care goals. Your goal may be to feel as well as you can for as long as you can, to set a personal best time on your bike ride to the Maroon Bells or it may be both! I offer the MDVIP Wellness Program Plus, comprised of advanced diagnostic tests, including a heart disease screening developed with Cleveland HeartLab and a brain health screening, that can better detect certain risk factors earlier, along with a personalized medication management program to help make your medications safer and more effective.

My internal medicine practice is located in Basalt, Colorado, 15 miles north of Aspen. My practice focuses on providing personalized care and attention and is the only one of its kind in the Roaring Fork Valley. I have a particular interest in cardiovascular health. I am the medical director of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Aspen Valley Hospital, where I am on staff. I also enjoy endocrine medicine and have a certified diabetes educator and dietician in my office. For those interested in setting personal goals, we have the ability to perform VO2 max testing in the office!

When my wife's cancer came back, we needed a doctor.
Dr. David Borchers was recommended.
How many Doctors would take on a terminally ill patient?
David took care of her until her death.
I was so grateful.
I said to David "I know that you are very busy, but when you can I would like you to be my Doctor."
He said "you are healthy so you won… See more

While going through Chemotherapy a couple of years ago, Dr. Borchers called me almost every night just to see how I was doing. One cannot imagine how much that assisted me in getting through those times.

Forever I wanted to go to Africa, but my husband always vetoed it. He said “I don’t want to see you die in the bush from a bowel obstruction”. If it had not been for Dr. Borchers, I’d still be dreaming about Africa. In 2012, my chronic condition resulting from ovarian cancer, numerous surgeries, chemo and radiation brought me to the end of my rope. With constant visits to the hospital ER due… See more

Dr. Borchers is an extremely caring doctor who puts his patients ahead of himself. Two years ago I had some sudden and frightening heart issues, requiring a stent and later a pacemaker. Dr. Borchers was on a rare vacation with his family and biking in remote areas out of cell range. He left his family every evening and went to a place where he could get cell service and call me. He called… See more

Greetings,

Dr. B and all of his staff are the absolute best in class. This is only accomplished by being extremely organized, qualified, part of the MDVIP system, but perhaps most importantly, a truly caring operation. It is readily apparent to our family (especially when talking to friends in larger Metro areas), that access to superior individualized medical care is becoming scarce… See more
