My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I relocated with my wife to the heart of the Rocky Mountains 20 years ago from the East Coast. I did this mainly for the beauty of the mountains and the unparalleled outdoor activities. My regular exercise routine includes biking, hiking and cross-country skiing and has been instrumental in my wellness. My goal is to share that passion for wellness with you to help you achieve your health care goals. Your goal may be to feel as well as you can for as long as you can, to set a personal best time on your bike ride to the Maroon Bells or it may be both! The cornerstone of helping to achieve your goals is the MDVIP Wellness exam. During the comprehensive exam, we will provide a careful analysis of your current state of health and then create and execute a plan for you to obtain your goals and stay healthy.

My internal medicine practice is located in Basalt, Colorado, 15 miles north of Aspen. My practice focuses on providing personalized care and attention and is the only one of its kind in the Roaring Fork Valley. I have a particular interest in cardiovascular health. I am the medical director of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Aspen Valley Hospital, where I am on staff. I also enjoy endocrine medicine and have a certified diabetes educator and dietician in my office. For those interested in setting personal goals, we have the ability to perform VO2 max testing in the office!

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Borchers

from Pamela in CO January 14, 2022 for David J. Borchers, MD

Dr Borchers and Abby Nims Lavy make an amazing team. Their attention to detail, willingness to help, excellent listening skills, and detective diagnostic skills kept me alive during the worst time of my life. I simply can not thank them enough or recommend them more.

from Werner and Werner in FL March 22, 2020 for David J. Borchers, MD

We have been patients of Dr. Borchers for many years, long, before we joined MDVIP. He has always been and still is highly professional, knowledgeable, informed, and responsive. Anyone who is fortunate enough to become his patient should consider himself/herself exceedingly lucky..

from Christopher in CO March 15, 2020 for David J. Borchers, MD

I have been a patient for over 15 years with a unique medical history. Dr. Borchers and his staff have gone above and beyond for years. Physicians generally work hard, but our Doctor stands out with his knowledge and attentiveness. We are extremely lucky to have Dr. Borchers in our community.

Years ago I was in the movie theatre and the tip of my index finger went numb. When I returned home, about 6 pm I called Dr. Borchers. ( After all, I am a hypochondriac ) He said, "Well I don't think you are going to die, Dinah!" About 9 pm he called me back and asked about my finger. By that time it was fine. He said he had done some research on it and if it was still numb,… See more

Dr Borchers and his staff are always attentive to my requests and needs. Theyve always arranged for me to be seen in the office when problems arrive aside from the regularly scheduled appointments. Everyone in the practice is always professional and courteous, well knowledgeable of the options which address. They know me and my history; also seem to know the other patients who are visiting the… See more

For a couple of years, I had been having diverticulitis attacks. My doctor, David Borchers, treated me with antibiotics until he felt I had had too many attacks and needed surgery. I felt I needed surgery as well as the last attack I had had really scared me. Dr. Borchers referred me to a surgeon in our area. That surgeon said he didnt think surgery was the answer. Dr. Borchers I then… See more

Dr Borchers is a dream of a physician. He has been my doctor for many years and is greatly sought after. Many times I hear people in my community bemoan the fact that he is not their physician. He listens, he cares, he is thorough, he is smart as can be, he is up to date, if he does not know the answer, he finds it. He stays healthy and in good physical shape and that is very important to me… See more

Dr. Borchers is a very caring Doctor. He is always there for me. I have gone to him since he first came to town. One day I was at the movies and the tip of my index finger went numb. I called him at home when I returned home.-- about 6pm. At 9pm he called me back and asked if it was still numb- it wasn't ! He had researched it and said if it was still numb, it would have been serious.… See more
