My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I believe good medicine stems from a close doctor-patient relationship that revolves around longer appointments, strong communication, proactive patient involvement, and educated discussions about medical decisions. As your private doctor, I encourage you to share in the decision making process when it comes to your health and I strive to find an individual wellness plan for you, as no two patients are alike. All too often in modern medicine I feel that doctors are forced to practice “cookie cutter medicine”. As an MDVIP-affiliated physician, I am able to spend the necessary time needed to practice like an old-fashioned primary care doctor and develop a personal relationship with you.

As a family practice physician I am comfortable managing most conditions, but my special interests are in cardiovascular health, hypertension, dermatology, and hospital based medicine. I am one of a small number of primary care doctors in San Luis Obispo who has admitting privileges at both Sierra Vista Hospital and French Hospital. I regularly see and manage my patients when they are hospitalized, and because of this, I find they have a smooth transition to follow up care after being discharged from the hospital. I have numerous interactions and relationships with local specialists in San Luis Obispo to help you with your unique needs. I see patients from all over the central coast, including San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach and the 5 Cities area, Nipomo, Santa Maria, Atascadero, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Los Osos and Cayucos.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Dunlop

I don't have a specific moment to write about; all of my moments with Dr. D have been wonderful. I first went to him because I didn't have a doctor and he was my daughter's doc. I loved him right away! Caring, attentive and nice doctors are hard to find in our underserved area so I feel wildly lucky to have found this sweet guy:) I have fibromyalgia and other hard to manage diseases and Dr.… See more

Dr D has always exhibited both kindness and openness to myself, my husband and my mother. These qualities are much appreciated. He welcomes dialog and answers questions in terms that are not only understandable but appropriate to the specific situation. It is a pleasure to deal with him and the warm staff members that work in the office with him. We are in good hands.

I had been a patient of Dr, Dunlop's before he switched to MDVIP, I was happy with his care of me then .so I decided to switch to MDVIP with him. That has turned out to be an even better decision than I realized at the time. Since then I have experienced several different health challenges , and he has more than met anything I could have expected of him. I never feel rushed on my visits,… See more

I don't have anything exciting to tell you. But I do want to say that I'm awfully glad that Dr. Dunlop is my doctor. I believe he's competent and knowledgeable, and best of all, he's very nice. I feel completely comfortable talking with him, which is so important.

from Janet September 19, 2019 for Eric Dunlop, DO

I've been with Dr. Dunlop for several years, and what I appreciate is the time that he spends explaining my tests results. He gives several tests in his office that I have found other doctors don't here in SLO. His staff keeps me reminded of my appointments. I know that MDVIP is costly, but I will go wherever Dr. Dunlop practices at.

My husband and I both see Dr. Eric Dunlop in San Luis Obispo, CA. Dr. Dunlop is not only very knowledgeable and professional, he also is personable and able to provide understandable explanations of medical conditions, procedures and treatments. He asks questions to get a clear understanding of symptoms we might be experiencing and offers solutions that work for us. The staff from the… See more

I've been through 6 general practice doctors since coming to this county, and every one has not worked out for one reason or another not my doing. I'm so delighted with Dr. Dunlop -- calls are answered promptly, the annual physical exam was the most thorough I've ever had and inspired confidence, his staff is a treat. I'm pretty low maintenance, but when I returned from… See more

I never thought I would find a doctor like Dr. Dunlop in this county! I have fibromyalgia and all the issues that go with it and he has taken it so seriously. He has been kind and smart and so sweet and personable which is so important to people with functional disorders. He is willing to try anything safe to help and he actually works with me to find solutions instead of speaking from on… See more
