My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...
Located in Lexington, Kentucky and affiliated with Baptist Hospital, I’m honored to serve patients who come to see me from across the Commonwealth, as well as from many other states. My staff and I are accustomed to working with “snowbirds”, who winter in warmer climates. My personalized, internal medicine practice allows me to get to know each of my patients and to care for them well beyond their immediate needs. Because of this, when necessary, I am able to coordinate patient care with preferred physician colleagues, whether it be across town or across the country. My MDVIP-affiliated practice, often compared to a concierge medicine practice, also offers conveniences like same- or next-day appointments. In my internal medicine practice, I address the full depth and breadth of adult health, wellness and illness, with particular interest in prevention and wellness as well as cardiovascular health, hypertension, cholesterol disorders, nutrition, orthopedic and musculoskeletal problems.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Hood
My husband had a stroke and yet failed to even mention anything at all the entire day that this happened. He finally mentioned at dinner that he wasn't seeing right and I then asked what he meant, how did he see me standing in front of him? He then said he could see half of me and the other half was smoky, unclear. I said we need to go to the emergency room immediately. He refused. I then went… See more
My last several years with your guidance is showing continued success.
What a blessing Dr. Hood has been to me and my husband. We were referred by our hometown physician when we moved to Lexington. He has gone above and beyond our expectations. He is our friend as well as our health care provider. He feels like our son as he takes our health personally and always makes choices to help us be stronger and live healthier lives. Thank you for your time, your careful… See more
The following is several days of blood pressures readings at various times throughout the day. The 1st is 126/52 and the next is 125/71 and then 102/50 and 147/68 and 137/72. Are you aware that the hospital prescribed for me clvedilol? Should I still be taking this drug? Tom Minter

I was attending a women's retreat in March, 2019 and began feeling bad. Since joining MDVIP, I had Dr. Hood's cell phone #, so I texted him telling him how I felt. He told me a few things to do while away and made an appointment for me for that Friday after I returned home. On Friday, he sent me for a chest x-ray (stat) at the hospital. That night he called me telling me I had a… See more
Dr. Hood was my husband's doctor for eight years and made his life much happier and richer before he passed away. He also saved my life; I wouldn't be here without him. He is always thinking ahead and is so smart. I'm glad he decided to become a doctor instead of a sportsman. I'm very lucky to have him as my doctor.
Dr. Hood has been amazing when it comes to my health. He always takes the time to figure out what is going on with me and does whatever he can to get the issue resolved. Its nice to have somebody looking at my health over all instead of just the current problem. I appreciate you Dr. Hood and I appreciate that you truly care about me as your patient.
I'm 82 years old and have COPD and enphizema, I had an afib of 177, Dr. Hood sent me directly to the emergency room at Cent. Baptist, where they shocked me. Later they did an implant of a pace maker/defib. since then I have had no problems.
