My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I grew up in a small town and strive to practice internal medicine like a small-town doctor. Each patient in my primary care practice is an individual who is cared for based on his or her individual needs. As your private doctor, my aim is to prevent disease and, if that is not possible, to be proactive and diagnose illness early and facilitate effective treatment. I get to know my patients well in order to accomplish these goals. A yearly, extensive wellness visit is the start of this process. This visit and all visits are unrushed and thorough.

I am board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. I also provide advanced preventive screenings, including stress testing, echocardiography, vascular ultrasound and nuclear cardiology. I also offer conveniences, like same- or next-day appointments that start on time, which may be found in concierge medicine practices.

My office is located in Chevy Chase, Maryland - a short walk from the Friendship Heights stop on the Red Line. This location is convenient for patients from Washington, Maryland and Northern Virginia. I see patients at Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C. and Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland (across the street from the National Institutes of Health). I was named by Washington Checkbook as a Top Doctor from 2005 to present and by Washingtonian as a Top Doctor from 2003 to present.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Kanovsky

from Van in MD April 2, 2024 for Martin Kanovsky MD FACC FACP

The membership with MDVIP is worth every penny. Dr. Kanovsky or his wonderful assistant, Jini, generally return my call or text message within 15 minutes. Other doctors outside the practice usually take a day or more to get back to me. In addition, Dr. Kanovsky takes all the time needed during an appointment and there’s never the feeling I’m being rushed because my “15 minutes” is up. During… See more

At my last physical, Dr. Kanovsky referred me for a chest X-ray as I was complaining about a nagging cough. The radiologiy office was in the same building as Dr K’s office. I was told it’d be a 90 min wait so I left to return later. I was prepped and stepping out and to my surprise I saw Dr. K!
He had left his office to come and see what had happened to me. He knows I get concerned about… See more

from Daniel in MD February 24, 2024 for Martin Kanovsky MD FACC FACP

I have been seeing Dr. Kanovsky over 15 years. He has always been so responsive to me -- even on the issues that are perceptibly minor. Nevertheless, Dr. Kanovsky is patient with me and always advocates for my good health. My wife and I are patients of Dr. Kanovsky and we couldn't be happier. So while I don't have a specific story to share, I am so very thankful to know that Dr.… See more

This is a quick appreciation of Dr. Martin Kanovksy's support in accomplishing my health goals.
I have had several health concerns in recent years that I needed to check with him (high blood pressure, urinating issues, stomach pain, GERD, etc.) Dr. Kanosky has always been very attentive and responsive. He always spared time to give me the opportunity to discuss the above matters… See more

Dr Martin Kanovsky is our physician. My husband and I have been treated by him for over 10 years. He is very professional and his ongoing support is wonderful. We are very thankful for him and his professional assistant Jeannie.

from Harriet in DC February 11, 2024 for Martin Kanovsky MD FACC FACP

I always know that when I see Dr. Kanovsky, he will be focused on me -- looking at me, listening to me, and asking followup questions that show he has heard my concerns. While so many doctors are glued to their computers, Dr. Kanovsky is always present and accessible. He is incredibly skilled and is just as patient and kind. As a 98 year-old, I am particularly grateful that he takes my… See more

from Robert in MD February 10, 2024 for Martin Kanovsky MD FACC FACP

Dr. Kanovsky has been my cardiologist and primary care doctor for almost 10 years. I was in relatively good health at that time but my heart condition degraded to a rare but underdiagnosed disease, ATTR-CM along with a left ventricular dilation about a year ago. Dr. Kanovsky had been testing for, monitoring, and treating me for a mild decrease in pumping function for a couple years, but this… See more

from Kathryn in MD February 10, 2024 for Martin Kanovsky MD FACC FACP

My husband had terrible leg pain. Dr. Kanovsky reached out to his network immediately. Saw a neurosurgeon and had surgery. Dr. Kanovsky stayed involved every day to be sure we had all the right care. Surgery success! Dr. Kanovsky was a dedicated physician who stayed with us throughout the entire journey explaining procedures and making sure we are ok. He did not hand us off and leave. He made… See more
