My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

After many years of practicing internal medicine and treating chronic illness, it has become clear that trying to prevent disease before it occurs or diagnosing significant problems early and preventing progression are key components of good health. I have become a proponent of better living by promoting dietary changes and exercise, and I partner with my patients to develop a plan that fits their individual needs.

The MDVIP practice model gives me more time to investigate and the tools to screen for and help uncover many silent illnesses, that if found early, can be dealt with effectively and truly make a difference. The comprehensive, annual MDVIP Wellness Program includes advanced screenings focused on key areas, such as heart health, bone health, sleep, stress, nutrition and respiratory issues. As my patients' personal doctor, I encourage very open and casual relationships and am available 24 hours a day by cell phone for urgent needs. My patients also have their own website to communicate with me securely and confidentially by email, and I can send copies of test results and reports. This type of relationship with attention to detail, open communication, understanding and continuity is what I aim to deliver to each patient in my primary care practice on a daily basis. I also offer conveniences, like same- or next-day appointments that start on time, which may be found in concierge medicine practices.

My practice is located in Glen Burnie, Maryland and serves patients from the entire Baltimore-Annapolis corridor and surrounding areas, including Severna Park and Millersville. I am affiliated with the Baltimore Washington Medical Center, which is part of the University of Maryland Medical System. My specialized interests include adult medicine, preventive medicine and wellness, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, hypertension and internal medicine. If you would like to learn more about my personalized healthcare practice and the MDVIP Wellness Program, please make a complimentary appointment.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Ramirez

from Maureen in MD February 11, 2024 for Peter P. Ramirez, MD

As an elderly woman of 76, Dr. Peter Ramirez always treats me with respect for my thoughts regarding my health. If he gives me a diagnosis and prescribes a certain medicine or test, he is willing to listen to my concerns and questions. The answers aren't always what I hope, but he still gives me time to decide. This give me a feeling of autonomy over my own life with Dr. Ramirez as a… See more

I was having chest pains very late on a Sunday night. Called Dr. Ramirez and he immediately answered the phone, told me what additional medication to take and the pains were reduced. This represents only one instance but he is always available and I am still around today as a result of his excellent care.

from Robert in MD July 12, 2021 for Peter P. Ramirez, MD

Dr. Peter Ramirez has been my primary care physician for about 10 years. He is without question the most competent and caring physician I have ever encountered in my 81 years on the planet.

He not only diagnoses the situation, but explains in detail underlying causes, treatment options, potential outcomes and recommendations. Then, he follows up until the situation is resolved.

from Peter in MD March 18, 2020 for Peter P. Ramirez, MD

Dr. Ramirez cares about each of his patients. He extends his skills and abilities out of the office, such as when he was willing to view physical symptoms sent by a patient on vacation. Specifically as to me and several others, he and his partner in practice, Dr. Downing, each lead a walking group during warm weather months. I am part of Dr. Ramirez' group. Despite the hiatus due to… See more

My husband had a silent heart attack two years ago. His condition is very high risk as it left him with 1/2 a heart muscle and one open artery. After numerous procedures over 3 months it was decided that he could not have any surgeries including by pass . Dr Ramirez was the calming and reassuring presence during this emotional time. He explained difficult procedures or results thereof when… See more

from Sally in DE March 4, 2020 for Peter P. Ramirez, MD

Dr. Ramirez was my doctor before he became affiliated with MDVIP and still is even though I now live
In Delaware. He is a wonderful caring doctor who knows you not only as a patient but also a person. I called his
office to make an appointment for a stomach ache and after talking to one of his staff for a minute she
put me on hold and the next thing I knew Dr. Ramirez was… See more

from Lois in MD March 16, 2018 for Peter P. Ramirez, MD

I believe I owe my health to Dr Ramirezs careful diagnosis and care! Having seen heightened calcium levels in my blood, I underwent a parathyroid operation which led to the discovery of a metastatic breast cancer lymph node...which led to several screenings which led to a diagnosis of lung cancer (though I had never smoked)! After the removal of the lowest lung lobe on the right side...and all… See more

from Nita in MD March 15, 2018 for Peter P. Ramirez, MD

For me, Peter Ramirez should wear a superman cape! Over the years as my primary care physician he has demonstrated a level of caring and attention to detail that is second to none. He is thoroughly involved in my health status and in my progress. His guidance over the years has proved invaluable. I always feel at home with Peter. He even lets me argue with him on occasion!! He is responsive to… See more
