My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

The ability to care for individuals across their lifespan is a privilege which I treasure. My goal, as your personal physician, is to use my knowledge and experience, combined with my passion for teaching, to educate you on health and wellness. The foundation of quality primary care is the doctor-patient relationship. In my MDVIP-affiliated practice I will be able to develop and build upon that relationship so I can help you maintain better health and more effectively treat illness. My MDVIP-affiliated practice, often compared to a concierge medicine practice, also offers conveniences like same- or next-day appointments.

My internal medicine practice conveniently located just north of Columbia, Maryland has been providing care to residents of Howard, Baltimore and Carroll Counties for over 15 years. My personalized approach to healthcare, has resulted in my being named a “Best Doctor” in Baltimore Magazine in 2014, 2016 and 2017. While my internal medicine training has provided me with a broad medical background, I have a particular interest in cardiovascular disease, geriatrics and gastroenterology. I currently hold privileges at Howard County General Hospital.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Riesett

from Robert in MD March 9, 2024 for Randal P. Riesett, MD

Shortly after becoming a patient of Dr. Riesett, I came down with an ailment, which had previously required hospitalization if not treated immediately. I called Dr. Riesett after office hours, and he was on his way to a personal event, but he stopped off to discuss my issue, and was able to prescribe the medicine I needed immediately, so I could begin my treatment, and avoid a very painful… See more

I appreciate the fact that Dr. Riesett is a good listener, and open to new information. I recently lost a substantial amount of weight, after a thirty year struggle, using intermittent fasting.. He wanted to hear all about how I succeeded and let me go on and on about this book, that book, etc., as I'm now a huge advocate for the technique. Not only did he absorb my message, he… See more

Dr. Randal Riesett has been my primary care physician since 2015. I’ve always appreciated his calm demeanor and patience. Since his affiliation with MDVIP he has even more time to answer my questions and address my concerns. During my annual physical in 2022, I casually mentioned that I’d been feeling clumsy and that occasionally I had to catch myself before falling. Dr. Riesett asked me… See more

I have been a patient of Dr Randall Riesett for a number of years. And, I couldn’t be more pleased that he is my doctor. Dr. Riesett’s professional manner is displayed in his ability to talk with you as opposed to taking at you. A quality that conveys his compassion and commitment to his patients. He explains things in a way that can be easily understood, in addition to making recommendations… See more

Plain and simple.. I was obese. 5’8” tall and weighing in at ( literally) 199 pounds at my office visit last autumn. Yikes! The extra weight was causing me to feel sluggish. My joints ached. My knees, feet, and back hurt.

Dr. Riesett suggested I try intermittent fasting to safely and slowly take off the excesss weight. Since I came in the office for fasting bloodwork and it was 2 pm… See more

from Paulette in MD February 10, 2024 for Randal P. Riesett, MD

He is the consummate GP. I first met him when he was my mother’s doctor.
He was unbelievably attentive and caring. In a busy atmosphere, he spent time and care for my mother up to her death.
I subsequently became his patient in 2022. He showed the same care and patience with me. Dr Riesett leans toward his patients and really listens. There is no sense that he has to rush and hurry… See more

We are so thankful for Dr. Riesett. In April 2023 he sent my husband, John, to the Hospital by ambulance from his office because of low oxygen levels. After a few days in the hospital, the doctors there wanted to send him home on Oxygen and to see a pulmonologist. My husband called Dr. Riesett and he said that he had been monitoring all the tests that the hospital had done. The problem was his… See more
