This story is not about me but it is about my wife's parents, who were also patients of Dr. Hartvigsen. The time that he took with them both and the care he provided should be a chapter in a Medical School book so others learn what true patient care is. He is caring and listens to the patient to hear their concerns and not just what he feels. Thank you Dr. Eric Hartvigsen.

My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...
As an Army brat, I believe in leading from the front. This means that I practice what I preach. This tends to make recommendations believable and attainable. Medical plans always involve patient goals of care alongside recommended practices.
I am board certified in family medicine with certificates of additional qualification in sleep medicine, hospice and palliative care. I enjoy sports medicine as an offshoot of my years of competitive soccer coaching.
I am affiliated with Providence Hospital downtown and northeast, Prisma Baptist Medical Center, Columbia and Prisma Richland Memorial hospitals. My medical interests are wellness, prevention and sports medicine. This allows my patients to enjoy better health. My palliative care background affords my chronically ill patients better quality of life in their sunset years.
My practice serves Richland, Lexington, Kershaw and Fairfield counties and the surrounding area.

I left his practice when MDVIP came on board, worse mistake ever, it just made this office better. Was never sure why any doctor would join this program, but it turned a great Doctor into a great place to go. I was in the military for 37 years and I hate waiting on being seen. Those days are over and I will be here as long as he is practicing!!!!
I have been a patient of Dr. Hartvigsen for over 20 years and followed him when he switched to MDVIP.
He KNOWS me and my family and has always been there when needed.
He takes his time and he listens!
I’ve been going to Dr Erik Hartvigsen for at least 20-25 years. He has always given me the time and attention I needed, long before he went over to MDVIP. He knows me and my family, and I know he cares very much about me, and all of his patients. If I ever have a health issue, he will order whatever tests are necessary to find the problem, and treat it. He won’t stop until it is resolved… See more
On a regular visit to Dr E Hartvigsen, he scheduled me for several sessions of Physical Therapy for Balance. I headed to the sessions with the idea that
"What Do i need to go to this thing for?" After a couple of sessions , I realized that my balance was really unstable. I completed 21 sessions where my balance had changed and was headed in the right direction. It is not not… See more
Dr. Hartvigsen is an exceptional doctor. (He has to be for me to pay the annual MDVIP fee) I feel fortunate he is my primary care doctor.
What makes it even better is his staff. Everyone I have had to deal with has been as caring and helpful as Dr. Hartvigsen. Ashley, Jennifer and James have had to on multiple occasions deal with me and my issues. I do not look forward to… See more
I found my way to Dr. Hartvigsen during a very scary time a year ago when I had an ear infection that would not go away and later turned into something more serious with mini heart attacks and a medley of weird symptoms. I had been turned away by every doctor I was seeing, even Urgent Care and I did not know what to do. I truly never realized that you could be in a potentially life… See more
I don’t have a specific story at this moment but wanted to share the comfort he provides me continuously. I trust this man more than I can say. He’s always kind and very thorough with his questions and assessment. I have some complex issues with my health and I can always count on him to help me. I’ve been his patient for close to 30 yrs atleast with a lapse for about 2 yrs due to insurance… See more
I found my wife one morning in septic shock. I had no idea what to do so I called 911.
Dr H told me after it was over with that I was a hero, that I saved my wife's life.
He is such an inspiration. We both love him dearly!
