My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

Developing a trusted partnership in wellness between doctor and patient is at the core of my MDVIP practice. In a welcoming office environment, patient visits will be unhurried to allow sufficient time to listen and attend to your health concerns. This enables me to more completely incorporate your viewpoint, needs and goals; whether we are working toward maintaining a healthy life-style or discussing the diagnosis and treatment of an acute or chronic medical condition. I am dedicated to providing the most comprehensive and personal primary care service available. I strive to assist you in navigating our country's complex medical system and I will steadily encourage you to be an active participant and partner in optimizing your health.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Scanlon

from Robert in DC January 17, 2024 for Sharon A. Scanlon, MD, FACP

My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Scanlon for many years now. I can't cite any particular "milestone" or life changing moment/treatment, but I can say Dr. Scanlon is always there for us by email, telephone or personal visit. She always has sound advice and her treatment for many conditions we have presented to her has always been effective or she has pointed us in the… See more

I have been bless to have Dr. Scanlon as my doctor for quite a few years. Dr. Scanlon is never too busy to take time to explain and provide additional information to you. Thank you again Dr. Scanlon for all of your excellent service as my dedicated Dr.

from Steven in DC March 12, 2020 for Sharon A. Scanlon, MD, FACP

One morning a couple of summers ago, I woke up with the experience of vertigo, something I had never experienced before. Walking was a challenge if I didn't hold onto a wall. I was pale as a ghost and breaking out in sweats. At the time, my primary care physician was affiliated with a medical group at a local university. Although he was a fine person and physician, he was overburdened… See more

from Candace in MD March 10, 2020 for Sharon A. Scanlon, MD, FACP

Dr. Scanlon has been my general practitioner for almost 22 years. When I moved from upstate New York to Maryland in 1998 to accept a job in DC, one of the first things I did was to research general practitioners in the greater DC area. Dr. Scanlon's name came up several times as being one of the best physicians. Over the years, I have travelled more widely, and, to fairly remote places… See more

Bruce and I are hiking on a glacier located on Mont Blanc in the Swiss/Italian Alps. This was less than two and half months after I broke my ankle in Greece and had ankle surgery back home. I am grateful for the referrals Dr. Scanlon gave me that made the surgery and healing process go so well.

I switched to MDVIP and Dr. Scanlon a couple of years ago because I felt that I was not getting the kind of medical care I wanted. I was seeing a number of specialists, but no one was keeping track of what the other was doing, and I was afraid that something would fall between the cracks. Now, I feel that there is one qualified medical professional overseeing all of my medical care. If I am… See more

As you will note in the photo Dr Scanlon and I have a much different view of the world. I see it from on high while her view is more down to earth. In my case I have suffered all my life from a cyclops condition which Dr Scanlon has caringly treated. Before her medical intervention I had one large eye in the middle of my forehead.

I know that is hard to believe but true. Needless… See more

from Dr. Dianne N. in MD March 11, 2018 for Sharon A. Scanlon, MD, FACP

Dr. Scanlon has been my personal physician for a long time now, so she already knows my very complicated background before I even go in for my annual physical :-) Having her know that background is very important to me, and helps her identify any specialists that I might need on an on-going basis. Most recently I had contracted walking pneumonia without realizing it. Took me probably toooo… See more
