My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I believe in you not only as a patient but also as a friend. I feel that a patient should not be treated as a geriatric or middle aged patient. Patient care should be individualized to achieve maximum wellness and vibrancy. I feel too often patients are made to feel old before their time, i.e. geriatric. Health and vibrancy can be achieved at any age.

Although I treat all age groups – pediatric, young adult, adult, women’s health and geriatric medicine, my ultimate goal is to maximize your wellness. I have a special interest in preventive medicine and personalized healthcare. I feel that prevention is the key to continual well-being. Our wellness program/executive physical has been ranked in the top 10 nationally. I have been privileged and humbled to be named the top family physician by Lancaster County Magazine nine times.

I have been a practicing, board-certified family physician in Lancaster County for over thirty years and have patients from all areas of South Central Pennsylvania – including York, Harrisburg, Reading, Ephrata, Quarryville and Lititz.

I make routine house calls on my patients and I see my patients when they are in the hospital. A few of the hospitals where I advocate for my patients are Lancaster General Hospital, Heart of Lancaster Hospital and Lancaster Regional Hospital. I look forward to serving you and your family.

Dr.Phillips is a great doctor. When you don't feel good his great sense of humor makes it all worth the time for your visit. He is also a grandfather of beautiful children. He also is great about coming to the hospital to check on his patients. He takes the time to explain things that I'm not sure of. I have been a patient for a long time and over the years we have grown into a… See more

A special thank you to Dr. Spencer and Dr. Kelly for guiding us through elder care, cancer, and stress management for our immediate and extended family. Thank you for always being supportive and available. You are both amazing. Because of your partnership and leadership through all of these complex issues, my sister and brother-in-law signed up for MD VIP after their recent corporate move to… See more

We had a bit of a scare today when an extended relative who was about to come to our home, learned she was possibly exposed secondhandedly to covid. We called Dr. Spencer's office and asked for their advice. He set aside an appointment time for them to come to get the rapid test. Dr. Phillips himself met them outside at their car and administered the test. What an amazing gesture of… See more

We are currently in Florida at our condo and live more permanently in PA. We had planned to fly back north for Thanksgiving and attend a family gathering for those days. I called Dr. Phillips to ask his advice on whether he thought I should do this or not! He said "no way should you even consider doing that, especially with your compromised immunity" So....my husband and I took… See more

A few years ago, my son and I planned a trip to New York City. It was on Sunday morning when I woke up and sensed that something was wrong.
The night before when I got in bed, my lips felt sore and chapped, and were tingling. When I woke up, I had severe pain and itching on my hands. I wanted to go see Dr. Phillips in his office but I knew being that it was Sunday, he would be in church… See more

Dr. Phillips is so friendly, he puts me at ease as soon as he walks into the room. I am thankful for the way he keeps me (and family and friends) informed about current health issues. He is pro-active. Thank you so much for all you do.

Spencer gets things done fast and well.
From fast responses - including house calls- to arranging quick specialist referrals as needed, he and his office PA’s and nurses are very efficient and an absolute delight to work with.

from L Gene in PA March 11, 2020 for Spencer Phillips, MD, FAAFP

Dr. Spencer Philips is a one-of-a-kind. When he converted his practice to MDVIP, I didn't know what to expect. He has always been a caring doctor, but my experience has been so excellent. Soon after signing up with MDVIP, I had both knees replaced in a local hospital. Other than my family, he visited me more often in the hospital than anyone. More recently, through my bout with… See more

About two years ago I woke up one morning lite-headed & not feeling good. After no marked improvement in the way I felt, I called Dr. Phillips' office requesting an appointment. They ask if I felt well enough to come over. Stating "yes" I was given an appointment immediately or as soon as I could get there. When I arrived I was told that the doctor and his family were on their annual… See more
