My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

My wife and I both have parents who are doctors. Our parents always encouraged an active lifestyle, participation in sports and to become doctors ourselves. My father read Dr. Ken Cooper’s book “Aerobics” in 1968, an Air Force doctor who pioneered the benefits of aerobic exercise. Soon the entire family was up before dawn jogging a mile before breakfast every day! Health and fitness have been important to me ever since. However, middle age caught up with me. I could blame it on work and family obligations, leaving little time for health, but that would be an excuse. By the time I was 50 years old I could not enjoy life as much as I wished due to being overweight, out of shape and not getting enough sleep. My wife and I read an inspiring book about a retired lawyer and his internist who developed a program to restore his vitality through improved diet, exercise, sleep and other aspects of that kind of lifestyle. I was inspired by his doctor’s partnership with his patient and wanted to do the same with my patients. There never seemed to be enough time to help my patients reach their healthcare goals. I wanted to do a better job improving their health and quality of life, which is my reason for affiliating with MDVIP.

I am affiliated with Tennova Healthcare. As your private doctor who takes time to know you and your health, it is important for me to know if you are hospitalized so I can assist with your care when appropriate and be there for you when needed. Similar to conveniences often associated with concierge medicine practices, I also offer same- or next-day appointments that start on time. My MDVIP-affiliated, primary care practice currently serves Cleveland, Tennessee and all surrounding areas.

He is the most caring and understanding Doctor I have ever known! We were with him before MDVIP and would follow him wherever he goes! There are so many times he has been there for me and all of them are special! He is also my friend! If he hasn’t seen me in a while he will call to see if I’m ok! How many doctors in this day and time do that? Definitely not many!! I really can’t praise him… See more

At my last visit, I realized I needed to get home to be sure my husband was ready for his dental appointment. I had spent about one and a half hours with Dr Vance going over my annual year in review. Dr Vance went out to type up his recommendations for me. I was in a hurry to leave and told his nurse, Logan, that I would stop.by and get the recommendations later. To my surprise, as I was… See more
