My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I grew up in the Carson Valley, the son of a family physician. I chose to leave and go to medical school with the goal of returning, as a family physician, to the community that raised me. I have been practicing medicine in Carson City, Minden and Gardnerville for over 13 years and have done so with the goal of helping people live happier and more fulfilled lives without health problems getting in the way. As I progress in my career, I have learned that helping to prevent disease is one of the greatest contributors to living healthier.

My passion for wellness was inspired by graduating medical school and feeling overwhelmed physically and mentally. It was at that time that I understood firsthand the value in education and having the tools and resources to address my health issues and help prevent disease.  To this day, I apply these principles in my primary care practice when caring for my patients and helping them enjoy healthier lives for years to come.

As your personal family physician, I believe in patient-centered care and not only treating my patients, but also getting to know them personally, beyond their symptoms.

As a chronic wound care specialist in our region, I also help people avoid irreversible consequences of medical problems, of which many can be prevented. Prevention, however, is an investment of time and energy on the part of a patient. It also requires time on the part of one’s personal physician to provide the tools for success.

My MDVIP‐affiliated practice offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices. I also offer conveniences like same‐ or next‐day appointments and the ability for my patients to contact me during and after hours. This individualized and comprehensive approach helps to create collaboration and responsiveness in both your journey toward wellness and when you have an urgent need.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Johnson

from Rick in NV October 6, 2022 for David A. Johnson, MD, FAAFP

I’ve always worked out and it makes me feel so much better afterwards. As I grow older I spend most of my time on the elyptical. My goals are to get my heart rate over 130 for at least 15-30 minutes. I lift light weights after just to keep some muscle mass. It’s part of my life and I believe it helps in all areas. Also helps me not to gain weight. I have issues with that as well. Just try not… See more
