My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

As an experienced family medicine physician, I am your advocate in our complicated medical system. My main focus in on wellness and prevention, but I am well versed in acute and chronic medical conditions. Communication, trust and building long-standing relationships are important to me as a primary care doctor. With a warm and friendly atmosphere and quality time during visits, I am able to partner with my patients and tailor their care to their individual needs and goals.

In my personalized healthcare practice, patients have direct contact with me on my cell phone, home phone and office phone 24 hours a day. This keeps our line of communication uninterrupted at all times, which has resulted in preventing an office visit or ER visit when appropriate. My MDVIP-affiliated primary care practice has given me the time and tools to provide my patients with the individualized care and attention they deserve. Similar to concierge medicine practices, I also offer conveniences like same- or next-day appointments that start on time.

My office is located in the heart of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, but I take care of patients from Pawleys Island to St. James Plantation near Southport, North Carolina, better known as the Grand Strand. I am affiliated with Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, and my primary interests, other than wellness and prevention, are focused on treatment for hypertension, diabetes and cholesterol disorders, as well as general adult medicine issues.

from Robert in SC February 11, 2024 for John G. Ramsbottom Jr., MD

Dr. Ramsbottom has been my doctor for over 30 years. He has always been available even when he is on vacation. When he was on vacation I had a bad fall and hit my head. I called him and he answerd the phone. I was hesitant to go to the emergency because I felt Okay. He insisted I go and get a C scan. I did and everything was fine. This is an example of his care for his patients even when he… See more

Dr. Ramsbottom is always available by text to answer questions, refill medications or offer medical advice. I have texted him on several occasions and always received a timely response. I once texted him when he was on vacation in the Caribbean and received a timely and helpful response. Fell, shattered my femur. Was in local hospital where all the doctors on staff are hospital employees. He came to visit me to see how I was progressing. Always answers his calls within 30 minutes personally! When I first met him I had been struggling with a chest infection for months. My internist was telling me just to take an antihistamine. Did not want to prescribe antibiotic. I went… See more

At 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon, I was preparing to go out for the evening. When I went to the bathroom I was passing blood in my urine. I texted Dr. Ramsbottom and he immediately called me and instructed me on what to do. Dr. Ramsbottom made arrangements for me to see a Urologist on Monday. The Urologist discovered that I had a tumor in my bladder which was secondary to my combat… See more

from Susan in SC March 14, 2020 for John G. Ramsbottom Jr., MD

Dr. Ramsbottom sent me for a abdominal scan which showed that I had ovarian, kidney and liver cancer at the same time. He got me in touch with the proper doctors and I am now cancer free for the last almost 7 years. He is a true friend that I can call on at any time any hour. He makes sure I have regular check-ups with him yearly and sometimes in between. He kept a check on me through out… See more
