So I want to tell you about Dr. Genovese who I fondly refer to as Dr. G because he was my "port in a storm", when my husband was dying in 2020. I took care of my husband in hospice in my home and Dr. G was there at every turn, talking me through all of the terrible and complicated issues with his care. He also visited him at home, checking up on him every week until this death. He was also very concerned about my emotional and physical health during this time and was always available to talk with me. How do you adequately thank someone who has always been there for you during the worst time of your life? I don't know.

My wife and I were in our late 70's when we realized that our doctor, of over 30 years, was no longer available to us since he had sold his practice, even though he had stayed with the practice. We realized that we needed a concierge doctor who would make time for us. Dr. Genovese was recommended by a friend. After meeting with him we knew he was what we needed. My daughter who lives in Connecticut was having trouble getting an appointment with her doctor in CT. I called Dr. Genovese, who immediately said he would see her on Long Island. No questions asked. I could go on and on. Every time we call or see Dr. Genovese, my wife and I both say, "changing to him was the best medical decision we every made". Meet Joseph Genovese, DO, FCCP

My internal medicine practice is in Great Neck, New York, where I have been a primary care doctor for more than 25 years. As a personal physician, I realize that asking a patient, “How are you doing?” takes time to answer. I have more time to listen and help you take care of what matters to you. My goal is more personalized, integrated care focused on you and your individual health goals.

Waiting and feeling rushed are two things that I believe should not happen in a medical office. Because my practice is smaller in size, it allows for same- or next-day appointments when you are sick or concerned, phone calls that are answered by a person and, most importantly, visits that are relaxed and not rushed. We want to take care of you. My MDVIP-affiliated practice offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices.

Each year, my patients partake in the annual MDVIP Wellness Program. It includes a series of advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests that have been shown to help detect risk factors and issues. The lab findings, tests and screening results can help provide a clearer picture of your health, and with this information, we can work together to customize a care plan. I work to help my patients become more engaged and work toward becoming healthier. In many cases, we can even measure the improvements. That’s exciting!

I can also provide consultations for patients who have pulmonary disorders, such as asthma, COPD, pneumonia and pulmonary fibrosis. I am board certified in sleep medicine and can review conditions such as sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, insomnia and shift work sleep disorder. I believe in education. I am a physician with board certifications in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine and sleep medicine.

Patients enjoy the opportunity to call me, your personal physician, after hours and when traveling for more urgent needs. We care for dependents aged 18-26. We also offer 30-minute routine and sick visits.

I am excited to have more time and energy aimed at helping you as you work toward improving your health and your life.

Dr J Genovese has a delightful personality. Even when he’s under the weather he is pleasant and driven to making me feel better.
