My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I love spending time with my patients, getting to know them, earning their trust and guiding them towards healthier lives. I take pride in helping keep people healthy, emphasizing wellness and prevention, using medication judiciously and engaging a network of specialists and advanced services, when needed. I have come to appreciate that participating in a personalized health care model that brings patients and doctors close together again is one of the most important health care decisions a person can make. Similar to concierge medicine practices, I also offer conveniences like same- or next-day appointments that start on time.

I am board-certified in internal medicine and have been practicing primary care in Rhode Island for more than 20 years.  I am experienced in all aspects of outpatient and inpatient internal medicine. I am affiliated with Rhode Island and Miriam Hospitals and speak fluent Greek.

I invite you to experience the difference between a traditional volume-driven primary care practice and a practice that delivers individualized, conscientious care without time pressures.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Johnson

from Sidney in RI April 4, 2024 for Michael P. Johnson, MD

The office on a whole is the most congenial, I have ever been with in my long life.
Dr. Johnson, has.a staff that cares and is nice to deal with. The follow up that both the Doctor and Staff give you, I have not experienced before.
Dr. Johnson, also his manner and his dedication to his patients is to be admired.

I have been going to Dr. Johnson for years. We can communicate with each other very well. He listens closely to my concerns and suggestions and doesn't criticize me for my limited knowledge of medical decisions. We can discuss my health without him playing the "Who's the doctor here, me or you?" card. I am a Jehovah's Witness and do not accept blood transfusions.… See more

Been a patient for over 40 years and never wanted to go to any other primary doctor.
When he joined MDVIP it was an easy decision. Here are the reasons :
1. Impressed with the complete annual physical process.
2. Utilizes the statistics from testing to analysis what is definitely wrong and what I need to do.
3. Very low pressure environment.
4. Actually answers… See more

One Saturday morning I fell and broke my arm. I called to ask where to go for X-rays since the hospitals were overrun with COVID patients. He called a couple of Ortho places to find which were open. I immediately received X-rays & treatment.
2) one day I had a huge bug bite on my leg that looked like it was infected. I called Dr. Johnson who answered the phone even though he was at… See more

Dr. Michael Johnson has been my physician for more than 25 years. Over this period of time, I have had a very wide variety of relatively minor health issues. Despite the diversity of maladies, Dr Johnson's breadth of competence has always been clearly evident. My appointments never feel rushed as he takes time to assess the problem, explain the diagnosis, and answer my questions - all in… See more

Though I have many wonderful Dr. Johnson stories I will share just one. Two years ago my wife and I were on vacation. After day one of our trip I developed a very upset stomach. I went to see two different doctors, both ran a number of tests and both concluded that I must have some sort of food poisoning. When we returned home and I still was not feeling well I went to see Dr. Johnson. Dr… See more

I was extremely ill in 2003 and had been misdiagnosed and needed serious help. I found Dr Johnson by asking who the best was in Providence and multiple people recommended Dr Johnson. He helped get me to diagnostician clinic and get back to health. I have lived in UK and 4 states but always keep Dr Johnson as my primary and love his new practice. Saying that, his level of care and knowledge… See more
