I have had Dr Welch as my doctor for 32 years! He has helped me to go from 180 pounds to my current weight of 131, and maintain a good A1c. He is always there to answer my calls, text and to help me with any condition. His staff, Maria and Chantel are also the very best! I am so thankful to have the best!

My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...
I completed my fellowship in endocrinology at Emory and have practiced medicine for 18 years at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, assisting Piedmont in the development of their Diabetes Resource Center that helps all people with diabetes to lead healthy lives.
As an endocrinologist, I take a multi-disciplinary approach to caring for diabetes, which focuses on decreasing patients' blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol, as well as concentrates on motivating patients to adopt healthier lifestyle habits in order to be as healthy and active as possible.
As an internist and personal physician, my knowledge, experience, insight and technical ability all come together when evaluating and treating every patient. My goal is to get to know my patients well beyond their symptoms and help them identify and achieve their goals. In my personalized healthcare practice, my patients and I work together throughout the year to keep them on the path to healthier living. I sincerely care about the well-being of all my patients - I have time to listen, educate and be their advocate. My MDVIP-affiliated practice offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices.
In addition to specializing in internal medicine and diabetes, I care for patients with thyroid disorders, metabolic bone disease (osteoporosis), hormone deficiencies and/or excesses resulting from pituitary or adrenal disorders, and I treat problems associated with testosterone deficiency in men.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Welch
I was considering moving from my PCP (many year relationship) to MDVIP and set up my first physical with MDVIP. Based on the blood-work and prior to even meeting my Dr. Welch - it was recommended that I see a urologist because my PSA was elevated and had been trending higher. A malignancy was found and resolved. I will appreciate forever that my Dr. Welch and the MDVIP process cared for me and… See more
I am most grateful to Dr. Welch for many reasons. I appreciate his knowledge and abilities. However, there is one reason in particular that I will elaborate on. Prior to meeting Dr. Welch, I had a doctor who made no effort to do simple things that would have resulted in an improvement in the quality of my life. I requested a medical clearance for a knee replacement. She refused to grant… See more

If I had been asked in the summer of 2023, I could have listed the major symotoms of heart disease. I have no reasonalble explanation for my failure to recognize and react appropriately when I personally experienced clear and painful symptoms. I did not call 911. I finally did call Dr. Welch who told me to hang up and call an… See more

Our Doctor is Spencer Welch. Whether we call him or text him he always responds quickly and with whatever help we need. We live half the year in Arizona and whenever we’ve had a medical problem there, he has arranged to get us in to see the appropriate Doctor for our needs. We couldn’t be happier with the care he provides for us.
All of a sudden I was having a hard time eating. I was hungry and would order food and after a bite or two I could not eat anymore. It just didn't feel right and it was bothersome to try and swallow or force it on myself. We had friends who were using Dr. Welch and MDVIP and hooked us up with him. Dr. Welch accommodated me and got me in to see him within one day. After evaluating… See more
These were the words that my new endocrinologist, Dr. Norman Spencer Welch, said to me at Piedmont Hospital in 1993. Attaching my first Medtronic insulin pump to my side, he was upbeat, reassuring - everything I really needed at that moment. What, I thought, could I really accomplish with this new (then nondetachable) appendage constantly attached to me?
“You can do anything, and if you… See more
In my opinion, Dr. Welch has another MD and it is in Listening and Patience !!!!!! Dr. Welch has been a part of my family since the early 90's when he was my Mother's doctor, and at that time he was not a member of MDVIP. The care and followup Dr. Welch gave my Mother equaled that of an MDVIP. My Mother passed at 90 years young in 2012 with her diabetes under control and never having to… See more
