I saw my MDVIP provider, Dr. James West, this past summer for my annual wellness checkup. He noted my cholesterol and triglyceride levels were running very high and recommended I get a nuclear stress test since I had not had one since 2005. With my schedule and knowing how inconvenient this would be, I pushed back. But Dr. West suggested getting a cardiac calcification scan as a first step. I am so thankful he did.

The calcification score was high and convinced me to get the nuclear stress test. I completed the test without any problems, but four days later I received a call from the cardiologist letting me know the test showed some potential blockage that needed to be looked at immediately.

Four days after that, I had a stent inserted to correct 80 blockage in my left anterior descending artery ... the one they call the widow maker'. I had no symptoms other than the lab results to indicate the danger I was in. Had it not been for Dr. West knowing me so well and taking the time MDVIP affords for him to spend with me, I am certain I was on the path to a heart attack and possible death.

THANK YOU to Dr. West for practicing medicine the way it should be!
