From my first encounter with Dr. Edmonds, I found him to be the rare kind of doctor who listens, thinks about what you've said, asks relevant questions, and only then gives a careful response. When he announced that he was transitioning to an MDVIP practice, I knew I had to make the transition with him. I've been really glad I did. Now he goes into even greater depth, reviewing with me my dietary and exercise habits, asking about the way I take my medications--what time of day?--and how they change the way I feel, and inquiring about my mental health. Recently I ran into him in the produce section of the grocery store, where he was following the advice he dispenses. This is where I do all my grocery shopping, he said, as he reached to pick up a mango that had dropped out of my basket and was skittering across the floor. He has been urging me to move to an entirely plant-based diet. I never expected to get such advice from my GP, but because it's coming from him, it seems perfectly sincere, not some new-age gimmick. I told him I'm working toward it. It's a process, he said. It's easier to follow challenging advice when it comes from someone who listens and is kind.
