When I went for my first general physical, Dr. K. heard my -- now much louder -- aortic valve murmur. She referred me for what turned out to be lifesaving open heart surgery. During the recovery period in the hospital, I experienced what some thought might have been a seizure. Dr. K. went to some lengths to track down the nurse in the Surgical ICU who had witnessed the episode. After her exhaustive interview of him, she concluded that this had not been a seizure.
She is a physician who believes in and carries out what we all learned in medical school: always and thoroughly evaluate all the needed evidence.
