This is what medicine is all about
I woke up on morning with some unusual back pain that felt like kidney stones, which I've had before. I put off calling Dr. French because I was busy, but as the day wore on, it kept getting worse. I finally called about 3PM and he got me in immediately. After poking around on me a bit and talking to me and asking me a bunch of questions, he just couldn't get on board with kidney stones. He called and got me into an MRI clinic as their last appointment of the day. I was at dinner later that night and my cell phone rang and it was Dr. French. He told me I had to go the ER for an emergency appendectomy. I laughed and reminded him that I had already done that over a year ago. He did not laugh and patiently, but urgently, explained that I was one of the lucky few who get to have two appendectomies in their life. Apparently, the first appendectomy had been botched and they had left enough to get infected again. That happens so rarely, the diagnosis is often missed, which can result in some real problems. Even death. I credit Dr. French with saving my life and I credit the MDVIP arrangement with providing him an environment in which he feels like he can take his time, ask the right questions, and provide the best medical care. I'm a fan.
