When my first wife was battling cancer and in the hospital, she went into cardiac arrest late one night. The hospital revived her and moved her to ICU. It was 3 am before she was stable and I could go in to see her. Dr. Kuebker was already there, fresh as a daisy, talking to her at 3 am! After everything settled down, I was trying to get some sleep in a lounge. Dr. Kuebker came and found me and we talked about my wife, her prognosis, not good, and me. He could have gone home, #$&, he could have stayed home and done it all by phone, but he came in to check on my wife and on me. That is more than professionalism, that is compassion.
