Joel I. Silverman, DO, FACP

My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

An internist’s primary focus should be to enhance the quality of his or her patients’ lives while also helping to protect them from illness. The majority of diseases in modern medicine can be identified by simply listening to what the patient and his or her body are telling you.

Good medicine requires taking time to listen and develop close doctor-patient relationships. The word “doctor” in Latin actually means “teacher,” but the ideal relationship is one where both doctor and patient teach and learn from one another in order to achieve optimal health.
