Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Bret Jorgensen is the Chairman and CEO of MDVIP, the nation’s largest network of consumer-focused and funded, personalized primary care physicians. Previously, he was CEO of MDVIP and led the successful sale of the company to Procter & Gamble in December 2009. He remained an active member of the Board returning in June 2014 to lead MDVIP after the repurchase of the company by Summit Partners, in which he participated as a minority investor. As Chairman and CEO, his 25+ years of innovative leadership experience in healthcare and proven track record in fundraising, execution and value creation are guiding the strategic direction of the MDVIP organization.
Currently Mr. Jorgensen is also Chairman of Crossover Health, a novel worksite health provider offering technology-enabled health services to large self-insured employers, and a Board Director of the Kravis Leadership Institute. Prior to MDVIP, he was CEO of InSight Health, a $300 million diagnostic imaging business with 2,400 employees where he completed a financial restructuring, and Directfit, an IT services company that he sold to TEKsystems. Earlier in his career, Mr. Jorgensen co-founded TheraTx, a publicly traded, diversified healthcare services business with an innovative, point-of-care, information technology solution. As Director and President of TheraTx Health Services, he was responsible for five operating divisions with 5,000 employees when the company was sold to Vencor for $550 million. TheraTx was recognized as the second fastest-growing public company in America by Inc. magazine in 1995 when Mr. Jorgensen received the “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award in Healthcare.
Mr. Jorgensen has held Board Director appointments for numerous public and private companies, primarily in the healthcare field. Additionally, he has served as a strategic advisor to several companies, including, most recently, Qualcomm Life (mobile health) and Advanced ICU Care (tele-ICU). Mr. Jorgensen was a member of Scripps Institution of Oceanography Director’s Cabinet and Big Brothers of San Diego Board and Presidents’ Council (he was former “Big” for 10 years). He is Chairman Emeritus of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) of San Diego and has served in numerous YPO regional and international roles. He graduated cum laude in economics from Claremont McKenna College.
Andrea Klemes, DO, FACE
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Andrea Klemes is the Chief Medical Officer of MDVIP. She also serves as the executive and organizational leader of MDVIP’s Medical Advisory Board that supports quality and innovation in the delivery of the healthcare model drawing expertise from the affiliated physicians. Dr. Klemes oversees MDVIP’s impressive outcomes data and research including hospital utilization and readmission statistics, quality of disease management in the MDVIP network and the ability to identify high-risk patients and intervene early. She is instrumental in the adoption of the Electronic Health Record use in MDVIP-affiliated practices and the creation of the data warehouse. Dr. Klemes is board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology and a fellow of the American College of Endocrinology. Dr. Klemes received her medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed an internal medicine residency at Cabrini Medical Center in Manhattan, New York and an Endocrine and Metabolism Fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Prior to joining MDVIP, Dr. Klemes worked at Procter & Gamble in the areas of personal healthcare, women’s health and digestive wellness and served as North American Medical Director for bone health. She spent 10 years in private practice specializing in endocrinology and metabolism in Tallahassee, Florida. In addition, Dr. Klemes held leadership roles with the American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association and as Medical Director of the Diabetes Center in Tallahassee and Panama City, Florida, as well as Chief of the Department of Medicine at Tallahassee Community Hospital. She has been a consultant and frequent lecturer and has completed broad clinical research in diabetes and osteoporosis and published extensively.
Roy R. Harris, Jr.
Roy Harris has been an integral part of the MDVIP management team since 2003. Prior to joining MDVIP, Mr. Harris was an associate in the Fort Lauderdale office of Broad and Cassel as a member of the firm’s Health Law Practice Group. Additionally, Mr. Harris has lectured students, attorneys and healthcare providers on various health law topics. He received his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Florida. Mr. Harris is a magna cum laude graduate of the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center which he attended as a Goodwin Academic Scholar.
Chief Marketing Officer
Chris Lillich is the Chief Marketing Officer at MDVIP. He leads all aspects of MDVIP’s consumer marketing, strategy and innovation to establish MDVIP as the most recognized brand in the health services space. Mr. Lillich brings 15 years of brand management and marketing expertise from Procter & Gamble where he held a number of leadership positions on a regional and global scale. Prior to joining MDVIP, Mr. Lillich led the marketing for P&G’s North America laundry business, which includes Tide detergent with annual sales of over $3 billion. He also led the Cascade dish detergent brand to record growth. Mr. Lillich’s extensive experience in using public relations and social media to build brands is a valuable asset to MDVIP. He also brings a passion for innovation, having worked on the launches of several new P&G ventures, including the highly successful Tide Dry Cleaners. Prior to joining P&G, Mr. Lillich served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He received his MBA with a marketing concentration from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, and his political science degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
Executive Vice President, Physician Development
David Barrie is Executive Vice President of Physician Development for MDVIP. He has been instrumental in MDVIP’s network growth since 2007. With 25 years of sales, sales management and business development experience, Mr. Barrie leads the MDVIP recruitment strategy for a national physician development team. He works with independent physicians and large physician groups across the country to identify exceptional physicians to transition into the MDVIP personalized healthcare model. Additionally, he establishes MDVIP as a strategic service line for patients seeking personalized primary care within a health system setting. Prior to joining MDVIP, Mr. Barrie held a variety of sales and sales management positions in Quest Diagnostics, Specialty Laboratories and Pitney Bowes. He received his law degree from the University of London, England.
President & Chief Financial Officer
Matt Hashem joined MDVIP in 2005 to oversee all aspects of the company’s finance and accounting operations. Today, as President and CFO, Mr. Hashem is responsible for both the financial stewardship of MDVIP, as well as leading the execution of the organization’s strategic plan to achieve goals that support affiliated physicians and patients nationally.
In 2006, Mr. Hashem played a key role in Procter & Gamble’s investment in MDVIP, which culminated in the full sale of the company to P&G in 2009. He remained in financial leadership during the five years P&G owned and operated MDVIP as a standalone entity, and he led the subsequent sale of MDVIP from P&G to Summit Partners in 2014.
Prior to MDVIP, Mr. Hashem held several senior financial management positions in the biotechnology, software, and high-technology hardware fields with start-up growth companies backed by various venture capital funds. His previous roles include the Director of Finance at the biotechnology company U.S. Genomics headquartered in Massachusetts, and six years at KPMG as an Audit Manager.
Mr. Hashem is a cum laude graduate from the business school at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a degree in accounting. He has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1997.
Bernard Kaminetsky, MD, FACP
Prior to joining the MDVIP executive team, Dr. Kaminetsky was a founding partner in a primary care practice based in Boca Raton, Florida and now serves as a national spokesperson for MDVIP. He was the second physician to open an MDVIP-affiliated practice, and he is the first physician to participate in the MDVIP physician retirement program. Dr. Kaminetsky is a passionate advocate for preventive care and wellness on the federal level, having testified before the Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress. Dr. Kaminetsky is a graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a former assistant professor at New York University School of Medicine. He is also a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and served as Chief Resident during his internal medicine residency at Bellevue-New York University. Dr. Kaminetsky is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.
Donald F. Hankus
Chief Information Officer
As Chief Information Officer of MDVIP, Donald Hankus draws upon his rich career as a seasoned healthcare services technology executive with over 20 years of success in building and leading world-class IT teams; delivering complex, customer-centric IT solutions; and directing large-scale change initiatives. His wealth of experience began as an entrepreneurial business founder and president of MicroStar Computers and encompasses being a highly sought-after technology consultant and holding several CIO appointments providing enterprise-wide support to national real estate and healthcare franchises as well as global IT leadership. Passionate about leveraging technology to enhance the customer experience, improve efficiency and drive growth, Mr. Hankus’ extensive breadth of expertise includes innovative custom software development, web services, security solutions, data center and sales operations systems, business intelligence analysis, process reengineering, strategic vision and planning, healthcare informatics and cloud technologies.
Most recently, Mr. Hankus was Chief Information Officer for Clarient Inc., a GE healthcare company specializing in cancer and molecular diagnostics and research, where he supported over 1,100 pathologists across the United States. Prior to this role, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Insight Health Corp. with responsibility for a proprietary imaging information system and software integration to multiple electronic healthcare platforms and hospital information systems, including a patient portal and referring physician portal, used by over 350 affiliated radiologists in 80+ locations around the country. Before this, Mr. Hankus completed a global data warehouse project and the deployment of a worldwide customer relationship management system for Quest Software (now owned by Dell) in his position as Director of Sales Operations. As the Chief Information Officer for DirectFit, he created a multimedia, web-based IT recruiting system for this national technical recruiting firm with 18 studios where his team pioneered video interview technology and played a key role in the eventual sale of the company to a multibillion-dollar organization. Mr. Hankus received a BA in chemistry from Southern Illinois University, where he also completed courses toward a master’s degree in electronic and electrical engineering and computer science.
Executive Vice President, Business Development & Operations
Dan Behroozi has extensive experience in brand management, innovation, operations and technical experience with Procter & Gamble where he held a number of leadership positions in both the U.S. and Canada. Mr. Behroozi manages the acquisition and transition of MDVIP-affiliated physicians and patients from a traditional practice setting to the MDVIP model. His team focuses on customer service and operational efficiency to deliver highly personalized patient care while maximizing revenue for each practice. Mr. Behroozi also manages the relationship of the rapidly growing number of MDVIP-affiliated members and physicians nationally. Prior to joining MDVIP, he successfully launched new P&G brands while facilitating the growth and expansion of mature brands. Mr. Behroozi led P&G into several new consumer health categories through innovative partnership and investment approaches. He also provided executive consulting services to CEOs of small cap publicly traded companies and was directly responsible for identifying new investors in multiple financing rounds. Prior to P&G, he spent several years as a practicing electrical engineer at Siemens. Mr. Behroozi received his electrical engineering and management degree from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada.
