The Medical Centers of Excellence: your back-up support

The Medical Centers of Excellence (MCE) program is a benefit for members of MDVIP-affiliated practices. As part of our ongoing commitment to exceptional, personalized medical care and the best possible outcomes, MDVIP has established relationships with nationally acclaimed medical institutions located throughout the country. Through these associations, we are able to offer patients renowned specialty care and state-of-the-art technology that may not be available locally. At your doctor’s request, we can assist you in obtaining a timely appointment and coordinate all aspects of your visit, whether seeking a second medical opinion or treatment at one of these premier centers. MDVIP staff can also provide guidance and recommendations for scheduling your travel arrangements, ensure the transfer of your medical records and facilitate communication between your doctor and the facility.

No. The cost for the actual medical treatment will be your responsibility and can be billed to your insurance, depending on your healthcare coverage (Medicare or commercial insurance). Your doctor and the medical centers can assist you in determining your healthcare benefits.

Travel and lodging costs are also your responsibility. The MDVIP staff is familiar with the accommodations available at each medical center and can assist you with arrangements. In many cases we can extend discounted pricing which has been negotiated for patients visiting the center.

Once you and your doctor have determined that a second medical opinion or treatment at an MCE facility is desired, your doctor will notify MDVIP. MDVIP will communicate with your doctor and the medical center to ensure an appointment with the appropriate specialist and will arrange for the transfer of your medical records. We will contact you to explain the process and address any special needs you may have.

The medical facility will contact you directly to arrange a time for your appointment, as well as discuss services you will receive upon arrival and throughout your stay. The goal is to make your time there productive, comfortable and stress-free.

Once an appointment time is set, MDVIP staff will contact you to offer assistance with any travel and/or lodging needs.

Upon completion of your visit to the facility, your MDVIP-affiliated physician will confer directly with the medical center specialists, electronically and/or by phone. MDVIP will ensure the timely receipt of your results and medical records by your MDVIP-affiliated physician for seamless coordination of care.
