Edwin R. Duppstadt Miracle Maker

This is getting to be a rather old story, but I was unexpectedly hospitalize back in 2011 with acute pancreatitis. Nobody quite knew what it was, but Dr. Duppstadt was the first to figure it out. Over the course of the next 3-1/2 years as I recovered from the pancreatitis, Dr. Duppstadt went over and above any expectation I might have had about having excellent medical coverage.

All told, I spent nearly 40 bed-nights in the hospital as a result of numerous downstream complications (requiring 5 surgeries). Amazingly, Dr. Duppstadt was at my bedside each and every day, sometimes more than once. There's no telling how much time it took away from his other patients (though I suspect he treated them just as well as me).

A year and a half ago, I was hospitalized again for a non-related reason - liver abcesses - but, once again, there was Dr. Duppstadt in my room again, checking my overall care. Quite amazing, really.

I am alive today thanks to Dr. Duppstadt's superior skills, both as a medical practitioner and as it relates to his incredibly comforting bedside manner. In my wife's and my opinions, the man is a Saint and can do no wrong.
