My husband Charlie and I moved from CA to Las Vegas in Jan 2000. My husband had a referred scheduled appointment with Dr Mike Gunter, MDVIP, in Summerlin to discuss his prescriptions, neither had met prior. I accompanied Charlie to the Dr's office and while there Dr Gunter listened to my heart and lungs, I was not scheduled for this by the way. He left the room and came back with a wheel chair and told me I had to have an ultra sound right away at the Summerlin Hospital next door. I sure didn't know what was going on.
Prognosis, I needed to have my Mitral Valve checked and could only be done with open heart surgery. I was blown away by this and had no idea I was even sick. I was a smoker and thought maybe that's what caused the problem.
After instructions how to inject my belly with Heparin, the following week I had open heart surgery and valve replaced with an artificial one performed by
Dr Randy Feikes. I have to give credit to Dr Gunter for his knowledge and quick calm thinking, he actually wheeled me over to the hospital for tests and would not let me go home. And, to Dr Feikes for his skilled hands at fixing my heart.
I have nothing but good things to say about the medical industry here in Las Vegas. They took care of my husband's health issues for many years so we could live a somewhat normal life. My husband did pass away in 2021 and I shall never forget the kind thoughtful care he and I received from all the educated and brilliant medical community here in Las Vegas. I would not be alive if it wasn't for the ultra personal care from Dr Gunter those many years ago. To this day I would never go to any other GP than Dr Gunter, he's an excellent physician and of course friend, so thank you for my life.
I also have to give kudos to my very special Cardiologist and EP, Dr's Carlos Fonte and Gaston Vergara. I have been under their care for years. Dr Fonte treated my A Fib for over 20 years and then arranged for a Pacemaker AV Node Ablation as a last resort performed by Dr Vergara.
Three years on and after Charlie died Dr Vergara detected another problem with my heart and also would not let me go home. I was rushed over to Summerlin Hospital again and had an ICD, defibrillator installed. I was restricted from driving for a year. Wow, all through this Dr Gunter walked me through health and wellness maintenance and kept me sane.
So a big thanks to all Dr's mentioned even though there are many more medical staff helping me through the turmoil I felt dealing with health, sickness and death. It's been 24 years on February 1st since it all started here in Las Vegas, NV. I shall never forget and how grateful I am to these three Drs in my life.
