I am a male with a long family history of coronary artery disease. My dad died at 55 from it. I have a high calcium score, a biscupid aortic valve, a dilated aorta and AFIB. Working with Dr. Hitchcock, and my cardiologist, we are pulling out all the stops on prevention and, at 69 years old, I am athletically active and largely asymptomatic. That regimen includes cycling, weight training and all of my yard work. I have been 99% vegan for almost 30 years and I weigh what i weighed in 10th grade. I have eliminated all "small molecule" carbs (flour, sugar, pasta, rice, bread, potatoes, chips and snacks) and i do 16/8 intermittent fasting. On the medical side, we're using statins, Eliquis and aspirin, vascepa, two BP meds (my BP is 117/73), and two supplements )an L-Arginne compound and Nattokinase) that help prevent vasoconstriction. All that is to say that you CAN affect heart health with behavior and good medical advice if you want to!
