SHE LISTENS!!

My previous doctors would rush into the examination room and open their computer (if it wasn’t already open) and ask a few questions. Then I would have the opportunity to speak, and the doctor would be clicking away the whole time, catching perhaps a third of what I was saying. There was little eye contact, and then the doctor would rush out of the room. He or she would take off running without further ado, and if I had further questions I’d have to chase him or her down the hall and interrupt whatever conversation was going on with the office staff or other patients.

The only time Dr. Long clicks on her computer is when she was looking for an answer to a question that I asked. Other than that, she sits quietly and listens to what I have to say, making eye contact at all times. I always have the feeling that I am “reaching” her. I come away from my visits with her feeling that she really pays attention. She also has a sense of humor, an attribute I find important.

I would also like to add the following to the rather stern and unfriendly disclaimer at the end of the form:
OR DIE
Thank you.
