My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I have been in private practice in New York City since 1987. I am a general physician with a solid knowledge in all areas of medicine. My style of practicing medicine has allowed me to enjoy a strong interpersonal relationship with my patients, which is why I love being a physician. I strongly believe that attitude and sense of purpose makes a big difference in the outcome of one’s health. Through a strong partnership with my patients that involves working together, we can lead healthier and happier lives.

It is accepted medical knowledge that the human body is meant to be self-regulating, controlled by our minds and in balance with trillions of organisms which reside inside all of us. This process is usually interrupted by physical or emotional stress which results in inflammation and disease. Currently, our medical schools are teaching that there are 6 pillars of well-being that help us maintain this balance. These include our sleep, meditation, movements, emotions, nutrition and our biological rhythms. It is my responsibility as a physician to have the time to evaluate this in each patient so I am capable of practicing preventive medicine.

I am a primary care physician located on the upper West side, near Columbus Circle. My specialties include internal medicine, geriatric medicine which is the study of aging and caring for people with multiple conditions, and medical acupuncture. My MDVIP-affiliated practice also offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices. This allows me the opportunity to deliver skilled, personalized medicine to all of my patients, based on the guidelines from our best academic medical institutions, without being constrained by the barriers of the insurance industry.

Dr. Kamlet has been my primary doctor for well over 20 years. He is simply the BEST. Caring, attentive, amazingly resourceful (great referrals when needed!), responsive and THERE FOR YOU when you need him. Also, as a seasoned professor, he is very current. I had always felt I am in the best hands under his caring and sensitive watch. And I always appreciates his "tough love"… See more

Happy Doctors' Day, Dr. Kamlet! I will always remember waiting in the pre-op room for my mastectomy. In you walked, we talked (about what?), and I had no time to worry or be anxious. In hindsight, I have no idea how you managed to get the time in the middle of your day to go crosstown just to hang out with me, but was the most memorable part of my day. Thank you so much!
