My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

Internal medicine has provided me with the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives. My patients tell me I have been blessed with keen diagnostic skills. An individual is like a book that takes knowledge, experience and special intuition to read; the testing only confirms clinical suspicion. I am excited to welcome you to my new practice as the first female MDVIP-affiliated physician in Michigan.

I chose to affiliate with MDVIP so I can partner with you in the practice of primary care medicine. I will now have the necessary time to care for you and develop a personalized wellness plan. I will work tirelessly with you to make informed decisions toward achieving your healthcare goals- whether it is an exercise program, losing weight or reducing the number of medications you are on. My special interest is in preventive health, and I believe that a healthy diet, exercise and emotional well-being are the keys to longevity. I am also interested in new state of the art procedures in joint preservation. Integrative medicine is important to me as well, and I add chiropractic medicine, acupuncture and laser referrals to my care plans as needed.

Through more than three decades of practice, I have built relationships with top specialists and centers of excellence. I will help guide you to the specialist who best fits your unique needs and coordinate your care throughout the process.

I am on staff at several hospitals in Oakland County, Michigan: William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, St. John Providence in Southfield, Providence Park in Novi and Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield.

Starting May 1, 2023, my MDVIP-affiliated practice will be open at 29275 Northwestern Highway, Suite 202 in Southfield. Stay tuned for new photos of the office.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Kerner

from Judy in MI March 14, 2024 for Genise E. Kerner, MD

I had been going from dr to dr for years trying to figure out why my muscles were always hurting and I felt like no one was taking me seriously until I finally met Dr. Kerner . She listened. She took me seriously and she did not stop until she figured out what was wrong. And it changed my life. I still have pain all the time but I know why and I know what I need to do to stay healthy.

My MDVIP doctor, Genise Kerner, has always guided me and fought for me when things needed to be said. I will be forever grateful for her counsel and guidance. She is always there when I need her and has had a great influence on my life. I don’t know where I would be without her.

I haven’t been a patient for very long, but I really appreciate Dr. Kerners quick responses to my concerns as well as getting me in on the same day when I was sick! It’s just what I was looking for.

Dr. Genise Kerner is one very special doctor and lady! She listens and addresses my health concerns in a way that makes me feel she really cares about me not only as a patient but as person. From the time I joined her practice she has gone above and beyond in her care, concern and compassion in addressing my multitude of health issues and I will forever be grateful!

from Lorraine in MI February 21, 2024 for Genise E. Kerner, MD

I first met Dr. Kerner a couple of decades ago. She was the colleague of my primary care physician. I came down with a terrible respiratory infection and needed to see my physician asap. Dr. Kerner agreed to see me that day as my regular primary care physician was on vacation. She must have been flooded with patients but she agreed to see me and treated me like I was her only patient. I… See more

More like days. Months. Years.

Genise Kerner has walked by my side, in front of health milestones, and beyond the obvious, to keep me living my best possible life.

This high energy internist untangles complex symptoms with medical facts, years of experience and savvy intuition. Plus, she cultivates compassion along with a fix.

Always just a text or a phone call away,… See more

In our new world of crowded waiting rooms, physicians who are overrun with too many patients and too little time to spend with them, I experience none of that upon having joined Dr. Kerner and MDVip. I’m healthier, confident in my care partners and I can’t thank them enough. There are far too many positives to list. What I would say is this…to anyone who is invested in their health, looking… See more

from Sandra in MI November 1, 2022 for Genise E. Kerner, MD

I began to see Dr. Kerner after my previous doctor retired suddenly. At our first meeting I felt a definite bond and kinship with her. She has always given me her time without qualification and, when I feel downtrodden, she always fills me with hope. She is an excellent diagnostician and has found things that other doctors have missed. I feel lucky and privileged to call her my physician… See more

from Patricia A in MI March 25, 2020 for Genise E. Kerner, MD

A Southerner by birth and an admitted Eccentric Southern Woman 'of a certain age', moved to this very different world to be near my young, only, grandchild. I knew no one and vice versa and no one's people, found unrecognisable names, places and foods and people who stare when I say 'yes m'am, no m'am, thank you, or please'. Daily I encounter craters in… See more

from Barry in MI March 10, 2020 for Genise E. Kerner, MD

I have gone to many doctors in my life, many good and qualified ones but I can honestly say that Dr Genise Kerner my doctor of 30 years is my all-time favorite.
Not only is she a superb doctor, she is kind, compassionate and always makes time for me whenever I need her. She is a crack diagnostician--the best I've ever met. And she really cares about me. She calls to check on me and… See more
