My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

Internal medicine has provided me with the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives. My patients tell me I have been blessed with keen diagnostic skills. An individual is like a book that takes knowledge, experience and special intuition to read; the testing only confirms clinical suspicion. I am excited to welcome you to my new practice as the first female MDVIP-affiliated physician in Michigan.

I chose to affiliate with MDVIP so I can partner with you in the practice of primary care medicine. I will now have the necessary time to care for you and develop a personalized wellness plan. I will work tirelessly with you to make informed decisions toward achieving your healthcare goals- whether it is an exercise program, losing weight or reducing the number of medications you are on. My special interest is in preventive health, and I believe that a healthy diet, exercise and emotional well-being are the keys to longevity. I am also interested in new state of the art procedures in joint preservation. Integrative medicine is important to me as well, and I add chiropractic medicine, acupuncture and laser referrals to my care plans as needed.

Through more than three decades of practice, I have built relationships with top specialists and centers of excellence. I will help guide you to the specialist who best fits your unique needs and coordinate your care throughout the process.

I am on staff at several hospitals in Oakland County, Michigan: William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, St. John Providence in Southfield, Providence Park in Novi and Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Kerner

from Lorraine in MI February 12, 2023 for Genise E. Kerner, MD

In our new world of crowded waiting rooms, physicians who are overrun with too many patients and too little time to spend with them, I experience none of that upon having joined Dr. Kerner and MDVip. I’m healthier, confident in my care partners and I can’t thank them enough. There are far too many positives to list. What I would say is this…to anyone who is invested in their health, looking… See more

from Sandra in MI November 1, 2022 for Genise E. Kerner, MD

I began to see Dr. Kerner after my previous doctor retired suddenly. At our first meeting I felt a definite bond and kinship with her. She has always given me her time without qualification and, when I feel downtrodden, she always fills me with hope. She is an excellent diagnostician and has found things that other doctors have missed. I feel lucky and privileged to call her my physician… See more

from Patricia A in MI March 25, 2020 for Genise E. Kerner, MD

A Southerner by birth and an admitted Eccentric Southern Woman 'of a certain age', moved to this very different world to be near my young, only, grandchild. I knew no one and vice versa and no one's people, found unrecognisable names, places and foods and people who stare when I say 'yes m'am, no m'am, thank you, or please'. Daily I encounter craters in… See more

from Barry in MI March 10, 2020 for Genise E. Kerner, MD

I have gone to many doctors in my life, many good and qualified ones but I can honestly say that Dr Genise Kerner my doctor of 30 years is my all-time favorite.
Not only is she a superb doctor, she is kind, compassionate and always makes time for me whenever I need her. She is a crack diagnostician--the best I've ever met. And she really cares about me. She calls to check on me and… See more

from Shelly in MI March 6, 2018 for Genise E. Kerner, MD

Dr. Kerner facilitated my transfer to the hospital that was equipped to deal with my injury and the surgeon whom had the skill to repair my fracture after II fell several months ago. If it were not for the persistence of Dr. Kerner, I don't believe I would have had such a positive outcome and for that I am most grateful.

from Cynthia in MI March 5, 2018 for Genise E. Kerner, MD

Dr. Kerner has the time to listen to my concerns. I recently had knee replacement
surgery. She guided me through the process prior to surgery, and the recovery
period post surgery. Any time I need her she returns my call, or text promptly.

from Anita in MI March 3, 2018 for Genise E. Kerner, MD

I am a new member of MDVIP. Dr. Kerner had been my doctor for several years before she left her practive. Therefore, I joined MDVIP to renew my association with her. She is an excellent, personable, physician who constantly researches new information. She never presents herself in a superior I know it all manner. In other words, she is very much a human being. I appreciate that.

from Joan in MI March 3, 2018 for Genise E. Kerner, MD

I am out of town for six months but when Ineeded advice from Dr. Kerner she immediately called me and told me to call 911 imediately and go to the hospital. I was having a silent heart attack and she recognised my symtons. I think she ultimately saved my life.
