My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I trained to be an academic rheumatologist but realized that I enjoyed taking care of the whole person, not just one aspect of their health. When I finished my fellowship at The Hospital for Special Surgery, I stepped into my dad’s internal medicine practice on Manhattan’s west side. I was welcomed by the patients as family; I was the son who was going to keep the practice going so they would not lose the medical home they had known for 50 years. Since 1986 I have strived to fill that mandate, to care for my “family” of patients by providing comprehensive state of the art preventive health screenings and education regarding wellness. When they are ill, my academic background is an asset in diagnosis and treatment.

I have partnered with MDVIP, a wellness program with concierge features, because it will allow me to continue to provide personalized health care in this time of increasing pressures on private practices. The program provides the gift of time, a rare commodity in busy practices these days. Time translates to more in depth wellness examinations, more educational opportunities for nutritional and exercise interventions and more ability to coordinate care at times of illness. As a board-certified rheumatologist, I have added expertise in sports injuries and exercise programs, back problems, autoimmune diseases and arthritis.
