In 2022 I moved to Utah because my husband died suddenly. His death put my health care into turmoil because our heath care was covered by his company, which gave me 30 days to find new health care. MDVIP was recommended to me and I found wonderful Dr. Alison Schlishman. She took over as my primary care doctor and helped me through a very difficult time in my life. She is a true partner with… See more

My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...
I have practiced primary care medicine in Salt Lake City for the last 20 years. I am board certified in both internal medicine and geriatrics. I currently maintain an adjunct faculty position with the University of Utah School of Medicine. My primary focus has been on care for older patients, and I have been voted Best Geriatrics Doctor in City Weekly magazine for the last three years. I am now opening my practice to adults of all ages and hope to share my knowledge of the aging process with a younger generation of patients to help anticipate and avoid pitfalls that occur in later years. And of course, I will continue to provide comprehensive, goal-oriented care to those of my patients who have already entered their senior years.
Having unrushed time with patients is essential to caring for you in the personalized, proactive manner you deserve. As an MDVIP-affiliated doctor, I will have time, resources and MDVIP’s support to help improve your health through all stages of your life.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Schlisman
Dr Alison Schlisman is one of the best doctors I have ever had. She takes the time to listen to my concerns and never treats me like I’m a bother. She always has helpful suggestions and always follows up with me on any test results or concerns. I’m always able to get an appointment in a timely manner. I’m so glad she’s my doctor.
Dr. Schlisman has been my rock since our first meeting. She is so supportive with my medical and dental problems and concerns and most recently UTI issues and surgery scheduling and finding a caregiver to help me after the surgeries. She does all this with such understanding and patience and compassion and I have a great deal of respect for her as woman and as a professional ! I'm… See more
Alison Schlissman is a Wonder among Wonders! No kidding! Alison had been referred to me when I was searching for just the right doctor for my elderly sister. I fell in love with her and her manner immediately and soon became a patient myself. She has seen me through thick and thin (including my sizes) --and I am still here!
A couple of years ago Alison left the University of Utah… See more
Seven years ago, before Dr Schlishman, moved to MDVIP, I had just gotten word from a different clinic that the biopsy on my breast was malignant. I was told that by a receptionist who gave me numbers of physicians to contact. I was at a loss, so I called Dr Schlishman and asked her what I should do. She told me she would take care of it and within two days she had me an appointment with the… See more
Dr. Schlisman became our doctor when my former doctor, Dr. Griffin, was leaving the practice to take care of his father and said to me, “I am only going to recommend one doctor to you, Allison Schlisman. With your ‘white coat disease’, she is the only doctor I know who will make you comfortable enough to want to come back to the doctor’s office”. So, that began a delightful relationship that… See more
When I moved here, my daughter-in-law said I needed a geriatric doctor and made my first appointment with Dr. Schlisman for me. Even when she moved to MDVIP and changed to general medicine, I stayed with her. She is happy to have more time to give her patients now, and continues her careful care of me, a 92-year-old widow who is still quite active but has her share of problems. One visit when… See more
Through a bit of serendipity, Dr. Schlisman became our family doctor and it was the luckiest thing that has ever happen to us. She is by far the most caring and competent physician we have ever had. Even through the pandemic, we knew that Alison had our back if we ever needed medical help. It is remarkably comforting to know that if you need help, your doctor and supporting staff is there for… See more
