Peter F. Blomgren, MD

When my daughter-in-law awakened early on a Saturday morning in July 2022, her voice was weak, swallowing was difficult and she had limited movement of her left arm. She and her family were visiting us in Greensboro, NC and were over 1000 miles from their home in Minnesota. I called my MDVIP doctor, Dr. Peter Blomgren, on his cell phone and left a message. In less than an hour on that Saturday morning, Dr. Blomgren returned my call and after a brief conversation, he recommended my daughter-in-law be taken as quickly as possible to a recently opened medical facility because she probably would get faster treatment. He was correct. Upon arrival, she was seen immediately by the medical staff and hospitalized. In my daughter-in-law’s words, “What was meaningful to me is that he used his expertise to anticipate what I might need and clear the path to my getting it. He also helped me to know how my symptoms were presenting and what that would likely mean about what would happen when I got to the hospital. Both were invaluable.” After a few days, my daughter-in-law was able to fly home to Minnesota where she has been under the care of doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. After many tests, she was told that her left vocal cord was paralyzed and that her illness is called idiopathic vocal fold paralysis. After over a year and a half, she has made remarkable progress. Her voice is stronger, there has been substantial improvement in her ability to swallow food and movement of her left arm has mostly returned. And she has been working full time since last December. The purpose of this note is to express gratitude to Dr. Blomgren for his prompt and helpful response to a request for medical attention on a Saturday morning for a family member who was visiting. A very sincere Thank You.

I am writing to share my appreciation for my VIP MD, Dr. Peter Blomgren in Greensboro, NC. He is a present, available, caring, and careful physician. I am receiving the best medical care of my life since I became a patient at his practice. His staff is excellent, personable, and friendly, as well.

The first time I encountered MDVIP, I was looking for more responsive care for my aging mother. However, as I explored the benefits, I realized it might be a good fit for me, as I traveled frequently for work and not being able to schedule routine and urgent visits reliably on short notice was stopping me from building a relationship with a primary care provider - I was almost always using urgent care. When I met Dr. Blomgren, I told him I was in good health, hardly ever saw a doctor, and would be an easy patient. He seemed skeptical, pointing out that if I hardly ever saw a doctor I may not know if I was in good health. As we got to know one another and entered the MDVIP model of care, the extensive annual physical and conversation with Dr. B revealed that I needed to catch up on virtually every type of preventive care screening for my age, and that there were quite a few health issues that I had just learned to live with over time. He prioritized that list and began connecting me with care providers that he has known through a long career in our community. Without exception, those providers have also been excellent and thorough.
My health is not great! I have not been an easy patient! Dr. Blomgren has unearthed all sorts of things medically that I should have been dealing with for a long time - but the truth is, I was in a state of overwork, stress, and perhaps unexamined acceptance that life is tough and everybody feels tired and deals with some chronic pain. He reminded me that this is not the normal state of being and has encouraged me to seek support and a way through those feelings by connecting me with solutions. I am on a much better path toward a longer and healthier life. I can't thank him enough. Thank you Dr. B!

He became my family doctor in 1978, I think about 6 months out of Med School. I and my family could spend an hour or two about how we trust him but suffice it to say w we trust him immensely and are so vey grateful he is part of our lives. 

My story goes back probably 25 years ago.
My personal life was going through a really rough patch and Dr. Pete had assisted in referring me to first class medical assistance along with adjusting some of my medications. During this time I received a call on a Friday night from Dr. Pete to check on me and be sure I was adapting well to the changes, all of this while he was traveling on the west coast in a terminal awaiting a connecting flight. That’s one I’ll always remember, but certainly not the only time he went above and beyond to take care of my health needs. Thank you Dr. Peter Blomgren! You are appreciated!
