About Karen Murray Radley, MD
My ancestors were Utah pioneers. My great-grandmother was the healer in the family. She kept an old book of medicine that she passed down to my grandmother and then to me. Growing up, I was fascinated by this book and the idea that they did what ‘medicine’ they could to treat the family who lived a hard frontier life and survive.
Growing up, we lived next door to my grandparents and took care of them. Taking care of my grandmother and seeing her struggle with her health issues that included diabetes made me even more interested in medicine. I would get teased by my parents that I needed to get married to a doctor someday. My response was, “I don’t need to marry a doctor, I am going to be the doctor.”
My career as a family physician has taken me from the Uintah Basin, where I grew up, to the Wasatch Front for undergraduate and medical school, then to northern Utah in the Ogden area for residency, followed by central Utah working in Price City for 14 years as a family physician. Finally I landed in southern Utah, where I have served southwest Utah and northwestern Nevada since 2014.
In my MDVIP-affiliated practice, I can see patients from newborn through the end of life. I am affiliated with Intermountain Health St. George Regional Hospital, but my practice is a private and independent, not owned by any hospital system.
Throughout my career, I have continually strived to provide more personalized, individualized care. I feel my time can often be best spent focusing on prevention, and thanks to the annual Wellness Program I offer, I can assist in identifying risk markers and helping patients work toward preventing problems from becoming more serious. I believe the focus should be on the patient, using a shared approach to create a wellness plan that will work for them in their world.
I focus on a whole-body approach that also includes the mind and spirit. My definition of a win in medicine is supporting patients as they pursue taking care of themselves and working toward their health and wellness goals with my guidance.
My MDVIP-affiliated practice gives me more time to focus on delivering more personalized, individualized care. I work to stay abreast of updates in medicine, which I can share with my patients.
I look forward to partnering with you as you pursue your health and wellness goals. Come join me on this journey!

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
