I love Dr. Fagan for many reasons but one particularly stays in my heart. In 2004 Dr, Fagan was taking care of my mother. The following year when she was 85 we told Dr. Fagan we were going on a cruise to Alaska ~ 30 family members. He said that was a very good idea. She really hadn't been feeling that good but never complained. She even had to have a couple of transfusions. While we were on the ship she needed oxygen so she was supplied with the oxygen she needed. In the meantime we called Dr. Fagan's office and he called my cell phone right back! Dr. Fagan knew she had cancer but we did not know that until he called us. He wanted her to have this time with our family. He told us if we needed him ~ even in the middle of the night, to call and he would call us back. The Dr. on the ship was afraid they would run out of oxygen and had to have an ample supply in case other passengers needed it so we had to get off the ship in Ketchikan. We took my mom to the Hospital and they took very good care of her. They drained the fluid in her lungs and the next day she was ready to go back on the ship ~ however the ship had to sail on. She loved Ketchikan. This took place in the beginning of August 2005, my mom died September 15, 2005. Dr, Fagan showed my mom so much respect and always took his time with her. She loved him., and we love him too.

Meet John A. Fagan, MD

I am board certified in family medicine and geriatrics, allowing me to better serve the entire family. I have been practicing for 35 years in different models of care and am excited to be affiliated with MDVIP and offer a more personalized, practice approach to patient care. In my primary care practice, I have more time for the patient and patient-physician relationships which is different than in most traditional medical offices. My practice also stresses healthier behaviors and activities, which I believe in strongly.

The cornerstone of the practice is the MDVIP Wellness Program Plus, comprised of advanced diagnostic tests, including a heart disease screening developed with Cleveland HeartLab and a brain health screening, that can help detect certain risk factors earlier, along with a personalized medication management program to help make your medication use safer and more effective. In addition to preventive services, this practice model allows for same-day or next-day appointments that are not rushed and start with minimal waiting. Patients also have the ability to text/call me on my cell phone for more urgent needs.

MDVIP-affiliated physicians use the Wellness Program Plus to help prevent little things from becoming big things – working to help patients enjoy life and be healthier. Those who value their health will appreciate having a closer doctor-patient relationship. Because MDVIP-affiliated physicians have smaller practices, they have more time for you, so you can receive the individualized care and service you deserve. Physicians offering the Plus program have a different set of testing to choose from than physicians in the traditional program; this testing looks at additional health risks. Plus doctors also use different cognitive testing and offer a medication review program.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
