About Allan McKenzie, MD
As a family physician, I've always had an idealistic view of how I should care for my patients. As we get to know each other and are faced with new challenges, I'll often share stories of my own personal struggles and experiences to make you feel safe, empathized with, and respected. That's simply because I genuinely care and value the opportunity to stand with you, whether it's a challenge or a celebration.
While the current model of health care too often fragments our doctor-patient relationships, personalized health care can actually happen!
I'm excited to have found a solution for providing health care in the most idealistic and elastic form I can imagine. In my MDVIP-affiliated practice, I look forward to spending time with you and empowering you with the knowledge and tools you need to tackle your goals for overall health and happiness.
To me the greatest compliment a primary care physician can be given is when a patient says "You're MY doctor!". When you feel that way, you know you are getting the expertise of your physician's knowledge base combined with the human I am, a guy who cares and thinks about you and your situation as if you were my family member.

For example, I got blood work done on a Thursday, was told he would call me with results no later than the following Monday. I didn't hear from him, so I called his practice only to get his standard recording. I heard from the very nice lady on Friday that he had gone to a wedding in Europe, and they were all on vacation. I never heard from him about the blood work, which was drawn because of specific symptoms I was experiencing.
My experience has been mixed. He is very affable, though appears distracted during conversations. I have come to the conclusion that he is not particularly dedicated to his practice, but is possibly capable of giving adequate care, if he is paying attention.
The example cited above is just one of the sub-par experiences I had during the last six months.
With his encouragement and advice, I lost 15lbs of fat and was able to get rid of my Fatty Liver Disease. I could not have done it without them.
I recommend them if you are looking for a primary care physician.
He is a great listener and he is extremely intelligent and knowledgeable about the current medicines and the current medical practices available to his patients.
He is the best Physician I have ever been seen by in my life. I would and do Red him to everyone I know.
He is the perfect example of the real Doctor who has almost been extinguished by the mega Medical system of today. Thank God for his existence and for the ability to go to his office and be able to be treated with the utmost respect and compassion and excellence.
He is a very good Doctor who genuinely likes to be a Doctor to his Patients . I can tell that he is very astute and very up to date on all the latest Medical technology and news.
I don't think that I could have found a better doctor to take care of my medical needs. I feel very comfortable and fortunate to have a wonderful and attentive professional to handle my health care. I'm glad that I found Dr Mckenzie.
After Dr. McKenzie could not get through to my Cardiologist he decided to admit me to Baptist Hospital were I was moved from floor to floor eventually ending up on the Congestive Heart Failure ward. I was introduced to the heart transplant team and accepted as a patient by the transplant team. I was informed my heart function had gone under 20% and if I had not been admitted when I was probably would not have survived much longer.
I believe if Dr. McKenzie had not acted to get me admitted when he did I probably would not of survived very long.
Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
