My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

As a family physician, I've always had an idealistic view of how I should care for my patients. As we get to know each other and are faced with new challenges, I'll often share stories of my own personal struggles and experiences to make you feel safe, empathized with, and respected. That's simply because I genuinely care and value the opportunity to stand with you, whether it's a challenge or a celebration.

While the current model of health care too often fragments our doctor-patient relationships, personalized health care can actually happen!

I'm excited to have found a solution for providing health care in the most idealistic and elastic form I can imagine. In my MDVIP-affiliated practice, I look forward to spending time with you and empowering you with the knowledge and tools you need to tackle your goals for overall health and happiness.

To me the greatest compliment a primary care physician can be given is when a patient says "You're MY doctor!". When you feel that way, you know you are getting the expertise of your physician's knowledge base combined with the human I am, a guy who cares and thinks about you and your situation as if you were my family member.

So back in 2012, after I was released from the hospital from a gunshot wound, and severe TBI, going to Dr Mckenzie. At that time he was the only doctor accepting new patients. He told my mom I would be his experiment. He’s “fired me” so many times back in the day when I was having my adult temper tantrums. Doctors like to call it mood instability, so he always would send me to other… See more

While enjoying a Friday evening at a friends lake house I took a hard fall off the stairs leading from the boathouse to the main house. I landed on my right side onto rocks below, a fall of about a foot. I knew immediately that I had damaged to my right ribs and hip, and since my hip was artificial I was greatly concerned that I had broken something. I called Dr. McKenzie, and although it was… See more

We have worked with Dr. Allan McKenzie for three or four years, after a really bad experience with a primary care physician. Dr. McKenzie has gone way above and beyond for both my husband, and myself. He has been especially helpful in helping us manage specialists needed for a disease that my husband has, and is always available when my husband has an episode or is in in pain, to try to help… See more

Dr. McKenzie has to be the best doctor around. I recently lost my son and the compassion and care shown to me is an experience that has been lost in this world. Dr. McKenzie and his staff truly go above and beyond expectations. I am very fortunate to have found a remarkable health and wellness partner.

I was extremely fortunate to find Dr. McKenzie when my longtime doctor retired. He is very attentive and compassionate. He seems to update himself daily on medical practices. He has also taken excellent care of my youngest son. So, he speaks the language of both the young and the old. His life experiences have made him an excellent physician and a kind, compassionate caregiver.

I am an non-insulin dependent diabetic and have to take a 10 days of steroids to treat another condition. Dr. McKenzie is supplementing my diabetic treatment with injectible insulin to help keep my blood sugar manageable. I'm a little nervous about this, as you would expect. But we have easily stayed in touch via text messaging-- up to four times per day in the first few days--to help… See more

My wife and I have been patients of Dr. McKenzie for a very long time. Well before his MDVIP practice. We consider him a personal friend as well as our doctor. He is always interested in our lives, and always is quick to listen to our concerns. He is one who is deeply committed to providing quality care on a timely basis which we believe is why he chose MDVIP. We always look forward to an… See more

This summer I lost my father. He suffered a slow, agonizing death from Alzheimer's disease. Instead of supporting each other, my family became extremely dysfunctional. I experienced severe betrayal and trauma. Dr. McKenzie was very supportive. He listened; he had tremendous patience; and he did everything he could to help me through those difficult months.
