My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

Foremost to a successful primary care practice is a strong doctor-patient relationship. This vital relationship, I believe, is a major key to wellness. Each of my family medicine patients is different, and I try to build trust and communication that are equally essential for health and healing. I believe strongly that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. In that light, I am firmly convinced that nutrition and exercise are the cornerstones for most people to reach their goals. I will work diligently with my patients to create a unique healthcare plan to help them achieve their health, fitness and even life goals.

Since 2006, I have been practicing family medicine in Fayette County in Oakland, Tennessee and in Shelby County in Collierville, TN. My approach is to offer personalized healthcare for every patient. I also offer conveniences, like same- or next-day appointments, which may be found in concierge medicine practices. With a deep interest in nutrition, I feel I am well-positioned to assist diverse patients with their dietary needs. I have a strong interest in cardiovascular health, diabetes, weight loss and preventive medicine. Additionally, as a former collegiate athlete, I also have a great interest in sports medicine/orthopedics and sports-related nutrition.

As an MDVIP-affiliated primary care physician, we can work as a team and formulate a wellness plan tailored to your personal needs. I utilize specialists and hospitalists in the community with whom I trust my patients' care.  I am excited to practice medicine in this more personalized model of healthcare.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Thrasher

from Kathleen in TN July 28, 2023 for Barton B. Thrasher, MD

It seems crazy but it's hard to find a doctor that takes obesity seriously and is willing to treat the condition. So many doctors in the past were quick to offer advice to decrease calories and increase activity, clearly displaying their lack of knowledge and basically saying eat fewer cheeseburgers. It was demoralizing. Dr Thrasher recognized the condition and was willing to take the… See more
