About Daniel G. Smith, MD
I am a primary care physician who believes in the humanistic approach to medical care. Today in healthcare, patients often describe feeling like a number. Sometimes it feels like in-person patient-physician relationship-building is moving to virtual appointments and telehealth treatments. Though these options are very important at certain times, in my practice, they aren’t intended to replace my patients being seen in person and getting hands-on care when needed.
As an internist in Greenville County, South Carolina, I offer a personalized approach to wellness and health by encouraging my patients to define their health goals, then walking alongside them to help them accomplish those goals. Through healthy living, nutrition and physical activity, I aim to help people optimize their health, prevent chronic illnesses and resolve acute illnesses and injuries so life can be enjoyed to the fullest extent possible.
I provide primary care with an emphasis on wellness, along with treating diabetes, hypertension, obesity, chronic kidney disease, asthma/COPD and irritable bowel syndrome. I see patients from Greenville and surrounding areas, including Greer, Taylors, Landrum, Easley and Spartanburg. My MDVIP-affiliated practice, often compared to a concierge medicine practice, offers conveniences like same- and next-day appointments. I am also affiliated with PRISMA Health.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to the beach, mountains and lake, taking day drives and reading.

What our members are saying
Dr. Smith spent so much time LISTENING to me and addressing my complaints.
Now, a year later, I feel so much better and am back to being me. I thank Dr. Smith for all of the time and effort that he gave to me and in…
Reviews from the web
I have been so pleased with the care from all involved at this office. I cannot say enough about them.
Our medical society has changed so much that now I hear most people complain because doctors are not allowed enough time with patients.
I never complain any more.
Dr. Smith has a superior knowledge of the body and mind. He listens, he thinks outside the box. He treats. He follows up. He is completely up-to-date on the very latest medications and practices. He does not simply throw you to a specialist where you have a 3 or 4 or 6 month appointment wait. That's what you can expect from network doctors. If you have some concerning medical issues, finding a good internist is not an easy task. I've been enjoying the private sector for 8 months now. It is a night and day experience from network doctors. A doctor in private network is YOUR doctor. If you need to reach him, or ask him a question, you simply shoot him a text or email. You hear back same day or next day. Every time.
You're not leaving messages on a general voicemail, because no one ever answers the phone, and then wondering if you'll get a call back at all.
I strongly urge people who are not happy with their current medical situation to look into MD VIP. MD VIP is a nationwide private network.
I'm glad that Dr.Smith is, and will continue to be,my trusted primary care physician.
Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
