My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I have been practicing medicine for 20 years and since my earliest years in the medical field, I have remained focused on making and keeping my patients as healthy and happy as I can. I work closely with all of my patients to integrate them as active participants in their own health and well-being. I incorporate healthy eating habits, physical activity, and lifestyle choices that can help achieve similar or even better outcomes than those that rely on medication alone. This is a patient-based approach in which I tailor my recommendations to each patient's age, mobility, work schedule and family and social responsibilities.

I have worked in and for major hospitals in New York such as Mount Sinai, Beth Israel, New York Presbyterian, St. Luke's and Columbia as well as being a partner in a private practice. In 2008, I moved from New York City to Florida and worked at Holy Cross Hospital and Memorial Hospital before deciding to pursue my long-term goal of owning my own primary care medical practice. In addition to running my medical practice, I created a successful weight loss program from the ground up and now frequently assist patients to achieve their weight loss goals.

In my MDVIP-affiliated practice, I specialize in internal medicine and work with patients to better manage their health conditions and concerns including everything from Alzheimer's to Zoster. I treat acute (new) conditions, such as rashes, infections, sports and physical injuries and sexually transmitted diseases, as well as chronic (longer term) conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, elevated cholesterol, HIV, dementia, depression and anxiety. My approach in general is one of inclusion. I stay in close contact with specialists and patients to assist with the coordination of medical care.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Zekser

from Howard in FL February 18, 2022 for David Zekser, MD

As I said in the headline, David Zekser is a great doctor. He has knowledge, compassion, empathy, and patience. And he listens. So many doctors don't. He never makes me feel rushed. He explains everything and is meticulous about being sure I understand what he is saying. I am lucky that I don't have anything serious wrong with me; nevertheless, he outlined a "stay heathy… See more

from Howard in FL February 16, 2022 for David Zekser, MD

I have had many doctors during my life, but I have never had a doctor as caring, as knowledgeable, as empathetic as Dr. David Zekser. I never felt that he had one foot out the door as I have with so many doctors. He takes all the time I need and is always patient, understanding, and, most of all, interested. I am lucky that I am pretty healthy, but he outlined a regimen to keep me healthy. I… See more
