My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...
As your private primary care physician, I will partner with you so we can work together as a team to create a personalized healthcare plan not only to effectively manage and better treat your current health problems, but also to actively focus on disease prevention and wellness in order to help you achieve your health goals.
Having over 20 years of experience, with the last 8 practicing in the local North Shore of Boston community, I have relationships with many specialists. I also have special interests in diversity in healthcare, women’s health, cardiovascular health, diabetes, hypertension, mental health, and preventive care in addition to all aspects of internal medicine.
In my MDVIP-affiliated practice, by offering a personalized healthcare approach, you will be treated as if you are a member of my family in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Similar to concierge medicine practices, I also offer conveniences like same- or next-day appointments that start on time. You will benefit from the full extent of my expertise, compassion and dedication, as well as from the individualized attention of my professional and caring staff. My primary care MDVIP-affiliated practice is located at the Cummings Center in Beverly, Massachusetts.
I am affiliated with North Shore Medical Center-Salem Hospital, which is part of the North Shore Health Systems, and Mass General Brigham (formerly known as Partners Healthcare). I also speak Portuguese and Spanish.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Santos-Martins
I had an appointment with Dr. Santos-Martins (can't remember if it was a yearly exam or whether i had a symptom) and just before I left to go, I received terrible news. It wasn't to do with my health, thank goodness, but it was emotionally and financially devastating.. When I think my life is falling apart, I always go into fight-flight mode. (Certain bad political events in past years have… See more
sometimes the most important thing your doctor can do is be available to listen to concerns even when, at the end of the day, there is nothing wrong. I feel like my MDVIP doctor, Helena Santos-Martins, has gone well above the call of duty in ensuring that my family knows that if they are worried about why they aren't feeling right, she will be available to listen and advise. She has… See more
Dr. Santos Martins has always been there for me even if I call at night. She returns all calls. She is empathic and caring. I don’t think, I know that her first priority is the welfare of her patients. I’m glad she is my doctor.
Nine months into the onset of Covid an elderly confused gentleman with Covid, preop for surgery of a broken hip ,sneezed into my face. With no face shield or goggles on or glasses close to my face I acquired Covid within the next four days. I thought it’s the flu, five or six days and I’ll be back to work. Knowing the emergency room was overrun I did not go to the hospital although I was very… See more
Dr. Helena Santos-Martins goes "over and beyond" with her dedication to her patients. I can say this because she has shown this dedication numerous times in the less than 2 years that she has been my PCP. This was my first experience with MD VIP medicine; I was relying on what I had heard from one of her patients regarding her relationship with those she serves as PCP. My story is… See more
When my MDVIP affiliated physician retired 3 years ago I needed to make a decision about what to do. I had been seeing her for more than 30 years. I was told that Dr. Santos would be taking over, that she came highly recommended and that perhaps I should give her a try. I did decide to go with Dr. Santos and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I had no way of knowing at the time… See more
Dr. Santos Martins has been a wonder since I met her when her office was out of the old Lynn Hospital. She was the most caring doctor I've ever known. When I learned she got her own practice I went above and beyond to find out how she could remain my doctor and that's when I joined MDVIP. She even provided her personal cell phone number to me. She got me every specialist that I needed. When my… See more
During my routine yearly physical she noticed that my PSA *Prostrate Specific Antigen" jumped from below 1 to 3,28 since my last
physical. She did a digital exam and noticed some lesions on my prostrate and recommended I check with my uroligist which i did immediately. After a magntic resoncace imaging and a bisosopy I was told I had two lesions each about 2 cm long and that my… See more
I travel 45 miles each way to see Dr Helena Santos-Martins in Danvers, MA. I moved to NH from PA almost 3 years ago where I had a wonderful MDVIP doctor, Elana Kripke. I wanted a female doctor——in my experience, they listen better. Dr Santos-Martin was the nearest MDVIP woman internist. When I drove to Danvers to meet her, I felt the drive was so worth it. Dr S-M was so warm and welcoming. She… See more
