About Joseph M. Sack, MD

My goal, as a board certified family physician over the last 28 years, has been to provide personalized healthcare for my patients. My affiliation with MDVIP allows me to have more time to foster patient-centered, comprehensive healthcare that goes beyond acute illness management and promotes a healthy lifestyle and encourages disease prevention.

After graduating from the St. Francis residency program, I have maintained privileges at Kansas Medical Center, Health Corporation of America (HCA) Wesley, Select Specialty Hospital and Via Christi Hospital. Of the six hospital campuses, I am currently admitting only at Select Specialty Hospital, but maintain open access to the hospitalist at all the other campuses. Since my early training, I’ve had a special interest in specific areas of disease prevention and management which include hypertension, diabetes and asthma. Although I am no longer actively serving as a medical director, I have been an advocate of hospice services most of my career.

Combining my years of experience with the published success of MDVIP, I am excited to continue wonderful patient relationships by providing advanced services in the most personal way possible.

My husbands and my relationship with Dr Joe Sack started probably 20 years ago, long before he joined MDVIP. We know him joining MDVIP was a sacrifice for him and probably many other doctors who make the decision to join. However, as a patient, it was an added benefit which has enhanced our relationship with Dr Sack. We can tell Dr Sack can now look at each of his patients as a person and not has…

I transitioned from a company paid medical plan four months ago to Medicare and a Medicare Supplement. The change increased my cost of monthly prescriptions while canceling name brand medications.
Dr. Sack took the time, exercised patience and came up with cost effective substitutes.
It is this type of service and attention to detail that his patients have come to expect.

On September 23, 2023 I was at home and tripped on the back patio and fell into the open garage door hitting my head on the corner of the bench receiving a gash above my eye. I had to go to physical therapy so I put a bandaid on the wound and off I went. When I got to therapy he wanted to have a nurse look at it she did and said I needed stitches. I called Dr Sacks office and told them what the…

When I first went to Dr. Sack, I was dissatisfied with the previous two doctors I'd had who treated my high BP with adding more drugs with harmful side effects. Dr. Sack thought something was going on that required medical tests and fought the insurance company to get them approved. That was about 30 years ago. Before Dr. Sack started working with me, it seemed the other doctors weren't interested in further investigating what was going on. It turned out to be related to a kidney problem. He reacts immediately to situations and gets the patient into medical tests or referrals to specialists when needed. He's a very caring, interested doctor whom I trust completely and am pleased that my husband and brother-in-law are also patients.

Long term patient of Dr Sack and extremely happy with his medical care for me. He and all of his staff are very responsive to my calls for help/appointments. Dr Sack has been working with me on several medical conditions and is available at the time of need. I recently experienced a problem while on vacation in Florida and with a phone call I was able to receive a prescription from his office. Being retired and traveling for long periods of time that response is very gratifying. In addition to being my Dr I consider him as a friend.

Dr. Sack has been incredibly responsive and thorough in helping me manage my own health. I've seen him for a little over 2 years and in that time he revamped my medications so that they were most effective and consulted with specialists to find the best solution for my hypertension. Previous docs had looked at me, and when I suggested that something other than my weight may have been an issue, dismissed my opinion and prescribed another pill. I was on 5-6 medications prior to seeing Dr. Sack and am now down to 4 with an expectation to be at 3 or less within a month.

His office atmosphere is, well, I call it "joyous." They work as a team and truly appear to enjoy their work. I count myself as lucky to have found Dr. Sack.

Dr Sack is the most caring physician I’ve ever seen. He genuinely loves older people and is concerned for their health and well-being. I never feel rushed during an appointment nor do I ever wait to see him. I take comfort in knowing the annual wellness exam will alert my Dr is there is something starting to go wrong. Thank you!

I have been associated with Dr. Sack since 1996. Throughout this time I lived in 4 other states and used their local healthcare. I never found the level of expertise exhibited by Dr. Sack. Upon my return to the area it was a relief to continue my care under his watchful eye. Besides being the consummate professional he is a down to earth, cautious, caring physician. Other accurate descriptions include, but are not limited to: compassionate, attentive, competent, patient, teacher and last, but not least, ethical.

If you have a medical problem Dr. Sack will get to the bottom of it. In my case I have bet my life on it...

Dr. Sack and his wonderful staff have helped me learn a new “way of life and eating”. I’ve lost 75 lbs. in approximately 20 months by reducing my carb and sugar intake. I feel better and look better too. Having all the information at my fingertips, that the Wellness Check gives me, really opened my eyes to what was going on in my body. My numbers are much improved now.
Thank You Dr. Sack for leading me on my journey to find a “better Me”!!

He only cares about the money he can get out of you. I was under his care for 25 years and dropped me and would not refile my blood pressure med because i did not pay his $1600 to be under his care. I changed jobs and did not have insurances for 60 days and tough luck go somewhere else. Funny when peoples true colors come out with money. The owners responce is joke. I did not need help finding new dr need to extend date on prescription that had several refils left just expired. Do your self a favor and choose different doctor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
